Great technology needs great people! Are you a self-motivated, customer-oriented service assistant with strong organizational skills? Are you an experienced assistant willing to contribute your skills to the administrative operation of CERN’s accredited Dosimetry Service. CERN, take part!

You will join the Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Protection Unit (HSE) which acts, on behalf of the Director General, in matters of safety and the protection of personnel and environment. The Radiation Protection Group (RP) of the HSE Unit protects workers and public against the risks of exposure to ionising radiation, ensuring that exposure is kept as low as reasonably achievable. Within the RP Group you will join the Dosimetry Service front desk team who is managing the legally required individual radiation monitoring of the workers exposed to ionising radiation.

Functions

  • Provide front-office customer service for persons requiring a CERN individual dosimeter;
  • Ensure the follow-up of exposed worker files ensuring that legal obligations are applied and respected;
  • Assign, revoke and organise the calibration of CERN personal and operational dosimeters and generate associated weekly reports;
  • Manage the queries of our internal and external clients by phone, email or personally;
  • Regularly review and update the quality assurance manual and procedures;
  • Provide guidance and assistance to colleagues from different departments internally as well as to external institutes and companies regarding dosimetry tools and procedures.

 

Qualifications

Technical certificate or general secondary education in the field of administration, or equivalent by experience.

Basic knowledge of French or Swiss legislation in the field of radiation protection would be an asset.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience of administrative and secretarial support tasks, preferably in a front-desk or customer service in a technical or industrial environment.
  • Experience working in the context of a Quality Insurance accredited service (ISO 9001 or ISO 17025).

Language skills:

Spoken and written English and French: ability to understand and speak both languages in professional contexts as well as the ability to prepare/draft and/or translate and correct texts in both languages. Knowledge in a third language would be an asset.
