The Communications Associate participates in the development of communication and marketing strategies which aim to communicate the strategic priorities of the School of Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT) and the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology (FCAT). The position manages and directs the maintenance of a variety of digital and social channels within the school. The Associate coordinates departmental online communications channels in collaboration with the Director of SIAT and communications staff within the Dean’s Office and implements approved activities related to communications plans for strategic priorities. The Associate designs, drafts, revises, and/or prepares written, graphical, presentation, pictorial and video information for online and printed communications; and liaises with on and off-campus news, events and media personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or other relevant discipline and two years of related experience, including experience in website design and editing, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Good knowledge of communication, promotion, and marketing principles, practices, and strategies.
  • Good knowledge of print and digital media, desktop publishing applications, and web, wireless, and content-management technologies.
  • Good knowledge of current social media and online communication channels (e.g., blogs, Twitter, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of performance measurement tools (e.g., digital analytics software) for various online communications and marketing purposes.
  • Good knowledge of video editing and creative design software tools (e.g., Video Scribe, Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and project facilitation skills.
  • Excellent proofreading, copyediting, research, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to implement communications plans for strategic priorities.
  • Ability to write a variety of communications materials for print and web publication and to adapt writing style for various audiences.
  • Ability to interact productively and professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office software, email, and desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux and other Unix systems, Mac O/S).
  • Ability to arrange suitable transportation to work at various campus locations.
