Research topic

The PhD Fellow will be affiliated with the research project «COVID-19 – The impact on Norwegian seafood trade and coastal communities». The project is a project funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The aim of the project is to investigate how the Norwegian seafood sector is affected by different trade shocks, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Specific focus will be put on firm heterogeneity in adaptations to shocks. The project will utilize detailed trade data on firm level. This will make it possible for the hired candidate to develop highly valuable programming skills applicable to big data.

Possible research areas are broadly defined, and the candidate will have the opportunity to choose topics and methods within their own research interests, which might include data analysis/econometrics or more theoretical analysis. There will be good opportunities for a research stay abroad, for instance at the University of Florida, USA, and close contact with the Norwegian seafood industry and Norwegian customs.
