Research grant in engineering sciences – St Hugh’s College, Oxford

 This is a three-year fixed-term position that is suitable for a person who has recently completed a doctorate / DPhil and who wishes to develop their university career by continuing their research while gaining teaching experience.

The duties of the post holder will be as follows: carry out internationally renowned research, offer an average of three hours of teaching per week during the semester at the College; help direct the studies, admissions and pastoral care of undergraduate students; promote women in the engineering sciences through events with the College and University, as well as schools, industry and the wider community.

The allowance will be based on the University scale for fixed-term fellows (6th year), starting at around £ 30,942 per year; there will be an initial probationary period of one year. St Hugh’s College Career Development Fellow is entitled to free meals at a common table, and some support is available for research costs

The official selection criteria for the position are as follows:

  1. Proof of his ability to produce internationally renowned work in the candidate’s research area.
  2. Proof of ability to teach engineering sciences to undergraduates at the highest level
  3. The candidate must have already obtained the PhD / DPhil diploma or equivalent at the point of application. The candidate should not normally have accumulated more than seven years (not counting career breaks) in graduate studies or full-time research.
