The Deutschlandstipendium provides financial and intangible support to successful and committed students from around the world. On the model of public-private partnership, companies, foundations or individuals sponsor young talents with a promise of 150 euros per month. The federal government equates this amount with an additional 150 euros. But there is even more: many universities and private sponsors also support holders of the Deutschlandstipendium through mentorship programs, networking events and internships.
300 euros per month for top international talent
The Deutschlandstipendium supports very talented students at all participating universities in Germany. The scholarship is awarded regardless of personal or parental income, and nationality is also not important to award. Grants are not taken into account for grants awarded under the Federal Training Aid Act (BAföG). There are no social insurance contributions to pay.
How and where can students apply?
The Deutschlandstipendium is awarded by universities. Applicants must meet the requirements of the different institutions. In addition to academic success, the selection criteria for scholarship recipients include social commitment and personal achievements, such as a student overcoming challenges or obstacles in his social or family environment.
How long do students receive funding?
Funding is normally awarded for at least two semesters, but may be granted for a maximum duration that covers the standard study period. At two semester intervals, the university checks whether the fellow still meets the award criteria and whether private funding will continue to be available.
What else is in store?
More and more higher education institutions and private sponsors are offering additional non-financial support through the Deutschlandstipendium. Mentorship programs, networking events and internships allow fellows to make valuable contacts with companies and gain insight into working life.
