HENAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Henan Provincial Government Scholarship is a provincial scholarship established by the Government of Henan Province to support provincial universities to recruit outstanding international students and scholars for degree programs and non-degree programs in Henan province.

2. Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship  will be used to cover tuition (including internship fee). If the scholarship cannot cover the tuition, applicants are expected to pay the rest part. Otherwise, the scholarship will be automatically cancelled..

3. Instruction Language

The language of instruction for applicants enrolled in undergraduate,postgraduate and non-degree programs is Chinese. However, some are instructed in English. (Please check the university website or contact the university international admissions department for more details.)

6. Eligibility

6.1 Applicant shall be non-Chinese citizen, healthy, and without any criminal records.

6.2 Abide by Chinese laws, regulations, and university’s regulations.

6.3 Have good attitude toward learning, and have obtained good achievements in their previous studies.

6.4 Eligibility:

6.4.1 Applicants for pre-degree and undergraduate program must hold a high school diploma, and the maximum age is 25.

6.4.2 Applicants for master’s program must hold bachelor’s degree, and the maximum age is 35.

6.4.3 Applicants for doctoral program must hold a master’s degree, and the maximum age is 45.

6.4.4 Applicants for Chinese language program must hold a high school diploma, and the maximum age is 55.

6.4.5 Applicants for general scholar program must be sophomore or above or bachelor’s degree holder, and the maximum age is 30.

6.4.6 Applicants for advanced scholar program must be master student or above or master’s degree holder, and the maximum age is 40.

6.4.7 Applicants for research scholar program must be doctoral degree holder or above or holds associate professor or above, and the maximum age is 50.

6.5 Language Proficiency Requirement:

6.5.1 For programs instructed in Chinese, applicants should be proficient in Chinese language, with HSK test report.

6.5.2 For programs instructed in English, applicants of non-native English-speaker should provide their IELTS or TOEFL test report.

6.5.3 For programs instructed in English, applicants from English-speaking countries must provide English scores.

6.5.4 For admission to Chinese language programs, applicants are not required to have prior knowledge of Chinese language.

7. Application Documents

Applicants must complete and summit authentic application documents listed below:

7.1 Henan Government Scholarship Application Form, filled in Chinese or English. (Please check attachment)

7.2 Certified certificate or notarized copy of highest diploma(if applicant is student or working, they should submit student certificate or employment certificate). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized copies of the translation in either of these two languages.

7.3 Applicants for diploma or degree’s program should provide the original transcripts of their previous study. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized copies of the translation in either of these two languages.

7.4 Applicants for bachelor’s programs (general scholars programs), master’s programs (advanced scholars programs), and doctoral programs (research scholars programs) must provide a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English with a minimum of 500 words, 1000 words, and 2000 words respectively.

7.5 Applicants for master’s programs (advanced scholars programs), and doctoral programs (research scholars programs) must provide two recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

7.6 Applicants for music studies, fine arts studies and other art related programs are requested to submit original work according to the school requirements.

7.7 Official recognized report of Chinese or English language proficiency tests or equivalent language ability certificate.

7.8 Certified certificates or notarized copies of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner and Blood Test Report completed in Chinese or English.

7.9 Certified certificate or notarized copy of non-criminal record. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized copies of the translation in either of these two languages.

7.10 If the applicants are under the age of 18,Letter of Authorization or Guardian Book in Chinaauthorized by Chinese embassies in other countries must be submitted.

7.11 Pre-admission notice.

Note:The above documents should be in duplicate. The documents will not be returned whether the application is successful or not.

8. Application Processing

8.1 Application Received:Applicants shall follow the criteria of scholarship and apply to the university. The university starts processing the application according to the admission and scholarship criteria and also the applicant’s major preference. If the applicant meets the scholarship eligibility requirements and the application materials are complete, the university shall issue the pre-admission notice. If the applicant doesn’t meet the scholarship eligibility requirements or the application materials are incomplete, the application shall be seen as invalid and no other university shall accept the applicant.

8.2 Application Review:Experts on the provincial education department conduct a comprehensive review to the scholarship students and make the final decision.

8.3 Approval and Notification:The results shall be announced by the provincial education department before May 31st.. The admissionnotice, visa application form and other materials shall be sent to successful applicants through international express beforeJuly 10th.

9. Visa Application

Scholarship student should apply for student visa at the Chinese embassy in their countries with the admission notice, visa application form, Physical Examination Record for Foreigner and blood test report. Whoever comes to China with other types of passport or visa, will be considered as voluntarily giving up the scholarship and will not be able to register with the university.

10. Registration

Scholarship student must register at the university before the specified date appointed by the university with the passport, admission notice and visa application form. Scholarship student who cannot register on time should seek permission from the institution and cannot be more than two weeks. Whoever is absent without asking for leave or exceeding the required date will be considered as giving up enrollment and scholarship. Any costs incurred should be paid by the student himself or herself.

11. Physical Examination & Residence Permit

11.1 Within 24 hours of scholarship student arrival, the university shall record the student’s accommodation and report to the local police station.

11.2 Scholarship students are requested to go to the local health and quarantine office within 7 days of their arrival. Students who refuse to take the health examination or are diagnosed of any disease that are not permitted to enter China under the Chinese laws and regulations will be required to leave China, and the scholarship qualification will automatically be withdrawn.

11.3 After the health examination, the scholarship students must apply for residence permit from the Exit-Entry Administration Department of Zhengzhou Public Security Bureau within 30 days of their arrival.

12. Changing & Extend Major, Transfer

Scholarships student cannot change&extend the major or transfer to another university. If there is special circumstances, students shall apply to the Provincial Education Department for approval. An unauthorized change, transfer or extension will lead to the cancelation of the scholarship qualification.

13. Scholarship Annual Review

In order to encourage scholarship students, the provincial education department will have scholarship annual review for scholarship students whose study period is more than 1 year to decide their qualification for the coming year scholarship.
