Western Sydney University Master of Research International Scholarship: Sustainable Development Goals

Western Sydney University has recently been named number one in the world for it’s social, ecological, and economic impact in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings This ranking recognises the University’s contribution to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A scholarship opportunity exists for international students commencing study in our Master of Research program in 2023 to undertake research linked to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

These scholarships will have an exclusive focus on research on one or a combination of the Sustain Development Goals:

An MRes opportunity exists for students commencing study in the Master of Research program in 2023 to undertake research linked to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the NICM Health Research Insitute under the supervision of Dr. Phoebe Zhou and Professor Gerald Munch.

This project will have an exclusive focus on UN Sustain Development Goal SDG 14: Life below water (to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, sea, and marine resources for sustainable development).

The project will investigate the replacement of fish oil in complementary medicine supplements by sustainably farmed algal oils in collaboration with an industry partner.

What is funded

Scholarships include a stipend of $24,000(AUD) per annum for two (2) years.

A tuition fee waiver will be awarded.

Successful applicants will receive a combined offer for a Master of Research (MRes)/Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), with the final PhD offer being determined by successfully meeting academic progression and eligibility criteria for the program.
