Every year since 2012, the Labex Bézout has offered mobility grants to exceptional students who wish to study at the master’s level at the University of Paris-Est in an integrated program combining mathematics and computer science : the “ Bézout excellence program” . For 2021-2022, thanks to the Bézout Labex and the SFRI GP-DS program, we are able to expand the program and offer up to ten scholarships.
The Bézout excellence program combines courses, taught in English or French , from two existing master’s programs in mathematics and computer science (second year , known as “M2”). Each admitted student is enrolled in a track of one of these master’s programs; interdisciplinarity is ensured by the fact that each student must pass one or two courses of the other master. This provides the opportunity to acquire sought- after math and computer skills , which can be used in academia or industry .
In particular, a new mathematics and computer science course , common to the two masters, is specifically devoted to the interfaces between mathematics and computer science ; all courses on this track are taught in english. As this track is already interdisciplinary, students who choose this track do not have to take any additional course (as an exception to the previous paragraph). However, the other fields of mathematics and computer science masters are also open to Bézout scholarship holders.
In the French academic system , year M2 is the last year of schooling. The first two weeks are devoted to an intensive set of French lessons , for non- French speaking students . Subsequently, most of the year is devoted to courses at the research level. Finally, an introduction to research (3 to 4 months in a research laboratory) is offered, which constitutes an introduction to doctoral work before starting a thesis. Under normal circumstances, each Bézout scholarship holder will do their research initiation in one of the Labex Bézout laboratories.
Target audience and practical aspects
This one-year program is open to students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or computer science and have successfully completed the first year of a master’s or doctoral program. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.
medjouel.com informs you that Each scholarship holder will receive approximately 1300 € / month for 11 months (this aid cannot be combined with any other financial aid). The program will pay the university registration fee for all Bézout master’s students enrolled in this scholarship program, who will only have to pay a mandatory annual fee of € 90 (approximately) for CVEC (lifetime contribution campus ).
How to register
It is possible to apply for 2021-2022 from this web page . The deadline is May 21, 2021 .

The candidates potentials must express their interest (without obligation to attend), so we can send their credentials by completing this short form . (This is independent of the application form!)
After this program
The best students at the end of the program will be invited to start a doctorate at Labex de Bézout; we have a number of support options . Co-supervision with the student’s national doctoral framework, leading to two doctoral degrees, is possible.
