Research Fellowship positions at the Academy in Bishkek (2 Fellowship Positions)

Fellowship Duration: 10 months (March-December), 2022, part-time

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek welcomes applications for 2 short-term Research Fellowship positions (part-time). The aim of the Fellowship is to help increase the research capacity and research output of the OSCE Academy. Prospective applicant is asked to propose a topic in line with the overall mission in academia and education that guide the Academy’s various activities. Research topics related to education, youth, climate change, and Afghanistan are given a special consideration. It is furthermore desired that the Fellowship holder takes an active part in ongoing projects and contributes to events at the Academy if they fall in line with the Fellowship holder’s area of expertise.

Fellowship terms:

• Research Fellowship in the amount of the Euro equivalent of 66,500 NOK (gross) per person, paid in three installments:
o 22,166 NOK at the beginning of the research period;
o 22,166 NOK at the end of August 2022 (upon Researcher’s submission of the first draft and preliminary findings);
o 22,166 NOK at the end of the Fellowship period (December) upon submission of a revised final paper.
• Research paper of 6,500 – 8,000 words as a final research output to be published as Academy’s Research Paper. For further information, visit Research Papers :: OSCE Academy in Bishkek (osce-academy.net);
• Presentation of a research project to interested audience at the Academy.

Eligibility:
• Young Scholars with record of publications;
• Citizenship of OSCE participating State or OSCE Partner for Co-operation;
• Excellent knowledge of English;
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
• Clearly identified area of expertise / research interest in line with Academy’s research agenda.

The OSCE Academy will provide/cover:
• Visa and work permit support (if necessary);
• Working desk as well as access to all facilities of the OSCE Academy (if required; presence at the Academy is not mandatory).

NOTE: The Academy will not cover any other expenses such as transport, accommodation, health insurance and expenses of family members.

Interested applicants should submit the following documents:
• One-page cover letter;
• CV with two references and list of publications;
• A research proposal for a research project to be conducted at the Academy.

Research proposal should be max 1,500 words and have the following components:
1. research question and draft literature review
2. methodology
3. timeline of research activities for 10 months
4. expected outcome

Only successfully selected candidates will be notified of further selection procedures.

Final contracting will be completed upon actual receipt of funding. Taxes and social fees will be deducted from each of the instalment in line with Kyrgyz legislation: for foreigners 37,5 % tax and social fees will apply; Kyrgyz citizens are encouraged to register as an Individual Entrepreneur (ИП).

About the OSCE Academy in Bishkek
