Le DRC Agribusiness Innovation Challenge vise à mettre à l’honneur et à soutenir les innovateurs dynamiques œuvrant dans les chaînes de valeur agroalimentaires de la RDC. L’objectif est de renforcer l'écosystème agro-industriel congolais et de stimuler la productivité et la rentabilité des PME et des petits exploitants agricoles.

Après examen des dossiers, 10 demi-finalistes seront sélectionnés et auront l’opportunité de présenter leurs innovations devant un Grand Jury lors du DRC Agribusiness Forum, qui se tiendra les 4 et 5 octobre 2023 à Kinshasa. Les trois lauréats du Challenge recevront un prix honorifique et bénéficieront d’un soutien à l’accélération pour les aider à développer, affiner ou lancer des produits et des services innovants dans le secteur agroalimentaire en RDC.

QUI PEUT PARTICIPER ?

3. Utilisant des solutions de télédétection et d'imagerie de dernière génération pour collecter des données sur les cultures ou le bétail

4. Tirant parti de l'apprentissage automatique, de l'IA ou de la chaîne de blocs pour gagner en efficacité.

5. Fournissant des solutions efficaces en matière de gestion de l'eau et de l'énergie

The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor line in any sub-discipline of physics (including astrophysics, biophysics, geophysics, or engineering physics) starting in Fall 2024. We seek a candidate who is excited about teaching and mentoring women in STEM and complements the existing research in the program, department, and across campus.

A Ph.D. in physics or a related field is required. Post-doctoral research and teaching experience is beneficial, although not required. The hired candidate will be expected to teach an average of nine contact hours per semester (a lecture course is typically three contact hours and labs are 2-3 contact hours) in both introductory and upper-level physics, develop an active undergraduate research program, advise and mentor students, and participate in departmental and college service.

Saint Mary’s College is a Catholic, residential, women’s, liberal arts college offering undergraduate degrees and co-educational graduate programs. The Advanced Materials and Building Efficiency Research laboratory (AMBER Lab) in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a post-doctoral associate to work on the characterization and manufacturing of high-fidelity lunar regolith simulants utilizing local materials available within the United Arab Emirates.

The successful applicant will work on three main areas leading to the success of this fascinating project:

(i) to design and development of innovative building materials, including but not limited to magnesium-based cement, limestone calcined clay cement, and self-healing and self-sensing cement with vernacular materials or byproducts, (ii) to engineer innovative construction materials with superior properties, such as 3D printable concrete, (iii) to assist the development, testing, and application of lunar regolith simulants targeted at proposed landing sites of future lunar missions. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and graduate and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have experience in the development and performance assessment of cementitious materials. Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project (in particular, characterization of construction materials, electromechanical admittance, electrical impedance, and guided wave propagation) are favored. Applicants should have an undergraduate degree and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related fields. Candidates with outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities are preferred.

Essential Job Duties:

NC State and UNC seek to recruit a Professor of the Biomedical Engineering Department, who will join BME as a leader in contributing to the academic, scientific, and administrative advancement of the Joint Department. The recruitment of candidates to the Joint Department for this endowed professorship will be at the tenured, full professor level. The successful candidate is expected to bring an internationally recognized research program, a demonstrated ability to attract external funding, and the ability to teach BME courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It is envisioned that the Lampe Professor will spearhead multi-disciplinary, multi-department, and/or multi-university initiatives focused on addressing key research challenges in Biomedical Engineering. The search is for all areas of Biomedical Engineering including, but not limited to: biomedical imaging, biomedical microdevices, pharmacoengineering, regenerative medicine, and rehabilitation engineering.

OVERVIEWThis position is based in Ainsworth, NE, with the geographic accountability region of Cherry, Brown, Rock, Holt, Boyd, and Keya Paha Counties. This is a twelve-month, non-tenure track position. The focus for this educator is Food, Nutrition, and Health (FNH) with an expected demonstrated expertise in obesity prevention, nutrition, and health behavior change, and creating environments supportive of well-being and food systems. The target audience is ages 0-18 and the adults in families, communities, and environments who influence those ages. The outcomes of this focused Extension professional include: 1) Individual behavior patterns and environments that reduce youth obesity and improve human well-being, and 2) A safe and diverse food supply with choices/access for people focused on health. Health Behavior change and translation of research should be evident in their primary responsibility of program development and delivery. Nebraska faces the challenges of a high prevalence of obesity, foodborne illness, and disparities in food access and health status. Addressing interrelated determinants is key to improving health, well-being, health disparities and quality of life. The Food, Nutrition, and Health professional will contribute to the integrated (extension, research, and teaching) land-grant mission of IANR as a scholar and citizen in community engagement and healthy humans. Your Mission:

Obesity and its metabolic complications such as type 2 diabetes plague our healthcare system. While recent advances in pharmacotherapy are promising to treat obesity, cost-effective and widely available solutions are lacking. Interestingly, dietary intake of special lipids called medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), which are fatty acids consisting of 8–12 carbon atoms, has been shown to increase energy expenditure, to limit food intake, and to improve insulin resistance. We very recently found that intake of a small amount of MCFAs can help prevent insulin resistance in humans overfed with a high-fat diet. Despite these diverse systemic metabolic benefits, the mechanisms for how MCFAs achieve these effects are completely unknown.

Using cell culture techniques and in vivo experimentation with transgenic mice, it will be your mission to investigate the mode-of-action for how MCFAs benefit health. This work has the potential to uncover new pathways within or among different organs that can be discreetly targeted to elicit distinct, personalized metabolic benefits to treat and/or prevent metabolic diseases.

As part of its programme to provide postdoctoral research opportunities for scholars of proven academic excellence and in line with its Rising to the Future Strategy, University College Dublin is pleased to announce the Ronan Harty Newman Fellowship in New Frontiers of Competition Law. This Newman Fellowship is established with the generous support of the Law School alumnus, Mr. Ronan Harty. The Newman Fellow will be based in the Sutherland School of Law, ranked one of the top 100 universities for law in the world.

UCD Sutherland School of Law is a leading Law School in Ireland. It is recognised for the quality of its research, its degree programmes and its wider impact in Ireland and internationally.  It currently hosts three European Research Council projects and has a vibrant community of early career and established researchers. A European Law School in Ireland with an international outlook, the School's distinctive mission is to support and lead on the transformative potential of law for contemporary societies.

Project Background: This project is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with experience and expertise in competition law. The object of the project is to appraise to what extent the goals and rules of competition law should be reconceptualized considering either the role of competition law in defining and challenging the power of actors in the digital space or the role of competition law in realising the societal objective of sustainability. The aim of this forward-looking project is to contribute to ongoing debates on competition law and its purpose in society.

Applications are invited from candidates who hold a doctoral degree in Competition Law. The successful applicant will have published in relevant high impact journals (commensurate with their level of research experience). Candidates must possess a PhD (have completed and passed their Viva before commencement of the post) and be able to demonstrate a track record in their career too (commensurate with experience). We are especially encouraging competition law researchers with a focus on sustainability or digital policy to apply. Interest/experience in coordinating or organising symposia/speaker series, academic social media, working paper series, and similar outreach events desirable. The Center for Brain Science (CBS) and Kempner Institute for the Study of Natural and Artificial Intelligence at Harvard University seek a tenure-track faculty member to lead an innovative research program working across the fields of Computational Neuroscience and Machine Learning to discover how brain computation can benefit artificial systems and how principles of computation and learning in artificial systems can be used to understand the brain. Current faculty use a variety of approaches to learn how brains compute and govern cognition and behavior. The successful candidate will be appointed an Institute Investigator within the Kempner Institute and will hold an academic appointment in an appropriate department in the life or physical sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. Moreover, selected candidates shall also receive a relocation allowance of RMB 3-4 million, a research start-up fund ranging from RMB 5.5 million to 8 million (which includes national funding and government funding from Jiangsu provincial), a minimum of 150 square meters of research space, and will serve as professor and doctoral supervisor.
