Pourquoi PRISMES ?

PRISMAS contient des nouveautés uniques, telles que le processus de sélection transparent commun à tous les partenaires de mise en œuvre, un nouveau programme de formation personnalisé ainsi que la formation pratique ambitieuse aux techniques synchrotron, rendue possible par un détachement obligatoire au laboratoire MAX IV et des opportunités de réseautage exceptionnelles. Le projet est cofinancé par le programme Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND. Le consortium de projet interdisciplinaire et intersectoriel se compose de 9 universités suédoises en tant que partenaires de mise en œuvre et hôtes des boursiers PRISMAS, ainsi que d'environ 43 partenaires associés issus de l'industrie et du milieu universitaire.

Dans ce premier des deux appels de recrutement, 27 postes PRISMAS sont ouverts à candidatures.

DESCRIPTION DU POSTE / OFFRE  IM2B rassemble le plus grand réseau français de microbiologistes moléculaires de classe mondiale. Il vise à explorer la diversité et le fonctionnement du monde microbien, aux niveaux moléculaire, cellulaire et écosystémique, ou par son association étroite avec d'autres organismes (plantes, microbiote, etc.), en vue de développer des solutions biotechnologiques innovantes dans les domaines des bioénergies, de l'environnement et de la santé.

Les quatre projets doctoraux décrits ci-dessous sont éligibles à un financement dans le cadre de cet appel à candidatures. Ce sont des projets interdisciplinaires basés sur des collaborations inter-laboratoires.

Pour chacun des projets, les co-encadrants sélectionneront un candidat qui sera auditionné par un jury. L'audition aura lieu en anglais ou en français, le 6 juin. A l'issue de l'audition, deux candidats seront sélectionnés et se verront attribuer une bourse de 3 ans (salaire mensuel brut : 2083 €).

Les deux doctorants lauréats se verront attribuer 4 000 € pour assister à des conférences internationales ou pour suivre une formation liée à leur recherche ou à leur projet professionnel. De plus, à travers le  programme doctoral Plinius , ils bénéficieront d'un accompagnement personnalisé pour se former à un large éventail de technologies de pointe et préparer leur projet professionnel dans un environnement international et pluridisciplinaire.

JOB /OFFER DESCRIPTION  IM2B brings together the largest French network of world-class molecular microbiologists. It aims to explore the diversity and functioning of the microbial world, at the molecular, cellular and ecosystem levels, or through its close association with other organisms (plants, microbiota, etc.), with a view to developing innovative biotechnological solutions in the fields of bioenergies, environment and health.

The four PhD projects described below are eligible for funding under this call for applications. They are interdisciplinary projects based on inter-laboratory collaborations.

For each of the projects, the co-supervisors will select one applicant who will be interviewed by a jury. The audition will be held in English or in French, the 6th of June. At the end of the audition, two applicants will be selected and will be granted with a 3-year fellowship (gross monthly salary: € 2083).

The two awarded doctoral students will be granted €4,000 to attend international conferences or to follow training related to their research or professional project. In addition, through the Plinius doctoral programme, they will benefit from personalized support to train in a wide range of cutting-edge technologies and prepare their professional project in an international and multidisciplinary environment.

DESCRIPTION DU POSTE / DE L'OFFRE :  La microscopie diffractive tomographique (TDM) représente l'état de l'art de la microscopie optique non marquée, en termes de résolution et de mesure quantitative des propriétés optiques de l'échantillon. Cette technique est encore disponible dans le commerce, mais dans des versions simplifiées. L'Institut Fresnel et l'IRIMAS collaborent via une subvention ANR, en vue d'améliorer encore la technique . En particulier, l'importance de travailler avec des images à résolution isotrope est largement négligée [1]. Même des quantités simples telles que des volumes ne peuvent pas être mesurées avec précision à l'échelle micrométrique en microscopie à transmission uniquement, en raison du problème dit du "cône manquant" [2]. Par conséquent, l'indice de réfraction ou les concentrations d'espèces sont encore plus difficiles à mesurer avec précision [3-5].

Nous proposons 2 thèses de doctorat dans le cadre de la subvention conjointe IRIMAS-Fresnel ANR TARANIS (1 à IRIMAS et 1 à Fresnel) pour étudier le TDM à résolution isotrope . Plusieurs approches sont possibles : combiner les rotations d'échantillon et d'éclairage comme dans [1], utiliser une configuration 4Pi, comme proposé dans [2], ou utiliser une approche TDM assistée par miroir, comme démontré dans [4,5]. Les candidats sélectionnés rejoindront des groupes reconnus et actifs dans le domaine, et devront :

Étudier les principes sous-jacents du TDM (bibliographie), se familiariser avec le fonctionnement des systèmes IRIMAS et Fresnel actuels, ainsi qu'avec les différentes méthodes de reconstruction de données déjà mises en œuvre dans les laboratoires.

Participer à la construction de configurations TDM 4Pi / miroir assisté

Écrire des codes de reconstruction avancés, adaptés à ces configurations particulières

JOB /OFFER DESCRIPTION: Tomographic Diffractive Microscopy (TDM) represents state-of-the art in unlabeled optical microscopy, in terms of resolution, and for quantitative measure of sample’s optical properties. This technique is even now commercially available, but in simplified versions. Institut Fresnel and IRIMAS collaborate via an ANR grant, in view of further improving the technique. In particular, the importance of working with isotropic-resolution images is vastly overlooked [1]. Even simple quantities such as volumes cannot be accurately measured at micrometric scale in transmission-only microscopy, because of the so-called “missing-cone” problem [2]. Consequently, index of refraction, or species concentrations are even more difficult to measure with precision [3-5].

We propose 2 PhD theses within the framework of the joint IRIMAS-Fresnel ANR TARANIS grant (1 at IRIMAS and 1 at Fresnel) to study isotropic-resolution TDM. Several approaches are possible: combining sample and illumination rotations as in [1], using a 4Pi setup, as proposed in [2], or using mirror-assisted TDM approach, as demonstrated in [4,5]. The selected candidates will join recognized and active groups in the domain, and will:

Study the underlying principles of TDM (bibliography), become familiar with the operation of the present IRIMAS and Fresnel systems, as well as with the various data reconstruction methods already implemented in the laboratories.

Participate to the construction of 4Pi / mirror-assisted TDM setups

Write advanced reconstruction codes, adapted to these peculiar configurations

Regular scientific visits are planned for PhD students in both Fresnel and IRIMAS institutes.

Votre mission

Conditions d' éligibilité

Les personnes éligibles à l'emploi en tant que professeur adjoint sont les personnes qui ont obtenu un doctorat ou atteint une compétence de recherche équivalente. La préférence devrait être accordée à ceux qui ont obtenu un doctorat ou atteint une compétence de recherche équivalente pas plus de cinq ans avant l'expiration de la période de candidature pour le poste de professeur adjoint.

Ceux qui ont obtenu un doctorat ou atteint une compétence de recherche équivalente antérieurement peuvent toutefois être pris en considération s'il existe des motifs particuliers.

Les motifs spéciaux font référence à :

• congé parental,
• postes de confiance dans les organisations syndicales,
• service obligatoire dans les forces de défense totales,
• maladie de longue durée,
• stage de médecine générale (maximum 24 mois)
• résidence médicale spécialisée pour les professionnels cliniquement actifs (maximum 24 mois).

Le terrain, les dates et l'étendue doivent être clairement spécifiés dans la demande et vérifiés avec la documentation pertinente.

Le candidat doit, au cours des dernières années, avoir mené des recherches de haute qualité et démontrer sa capacité à continuer à mener des recherches de haute qualité.

Le candidat doit avoir publié dans des revues internationales de premier plan dans son domaine au cours des dernières années et occuper une place de choix dans la liste des auteurs, de préférence en tant que premier auteur et/ou dernier auteur. Le demandeur doit avoir la capacité, en tant que demandeur principal, d'obtenir un financement externe.

Your mission

The employment as Assistant Professor is time limited for six years with the right to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer. The purpose of the employment as Assistant Professor is to develop research skills as an independent researcher and acquire the scientific and pedagogical qualifications required for eligibility for appointment as Senior Lecturer. Eligibility requirements

Those eligible for employment as an Assistant Professor are individuals who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence. Preference should be given to those who were awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence no more than five years prior to the expiry of the application period for the position as Assistant Professor.

Those who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence earlier may however be considered if special grounds exist.

Special grounds refer to:

• parental leave,
• positions of trust in trade union organisations,
• mandatory service in the total defense forces,

• specialist medical residency for clinically active professionals (maximum 24 months).

Information about position as Assistant Professor through this call

The successful applicants must independently identify and agree with a department at KI regarding the employment as Assistant Professor, as well as negotiate the terms of employment. The employment is agreed with the receiving department, which is also responsible for salary setting.

The position as Assistant Professor is a fixed-term career-development position lasting for a maximum of six years at Karolinska Institutet. The employment is to commence at the recipient department not more than twelve months after the decision has been made.

The recipient department will be assigned a framework amount of SEK 1,000,000 per appointment per year for a maximum of six years. The funds are intended to finance positions and are to be used for salary and salary related costs in connection to the position.

In the event an applicant who is rewarded with a position through the call already is employed as Assistant Professor (biträdande lektor) at Karolinska Institutet, time will be counted off correspondingly from the new employment, and the allocated salary funds will also be reduced correspondingly.

The assessment criteria stated in the Instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet that was valid at the time of appointment as Assistant Professor will be applied when applying for promotion to Senior Lecturer. The research positions are part of the Multifaceted Wellbeing profiling area, and of the multidisciplinary wellbeing research community JYU.Well at the University of Jyväskylä. The aim is to consolidate the university's strategy “Wisdom and Wellbeing for us all” by bringing together research and education done in different faculties. Multifaceted wellbeing (JYU.Well) integrates diverse disciplinary insights into a holistic understanding of wellbeing-related phenomena, thus contributing high relevance to research, policy, and practice.

The postdoctoral researcher's duties focus on internationally high-level research in the focus areas of the JYU.Well profiling area. The duties include supporting the interdisciplinary development of wellbeing research and activities, and participating in acquiring external funding. The postdoctoral researcher is also expected to participate in societal interaction together with the JYU.Well research community, and in teaching within their own areas of expertise. The amount of teaching duties is rather small.

Candidates for the postdoctoral position are required to provide evidence of research that contributes to wellbeing research, relative to the career stage, and a research plan that demonstrates the ability to link their own research perspectives to JYU.Well profiling actions. Salary

Multiple postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Banghart in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of California San Diego.

Neuroscience Fellows are sought to work on two overlapping projects. Our Neuropeptide Release research program aims to identify cellular mechanisms governing neuropeptide secretion from mammalian central neurons. Our Pain Modulation research program aims to uncover the neural circuits that support top-down pain modulation (e.g., placebo analgesia) and the actions of pharmacological pain-killers such as opioid analgesics. These research programs intersect, as neuropeptide signaling is a central to pain processing and its modulation. Please see the lab website for more information.

Approaches employed include brain slice electrophysiology, 2-photon imaging in brain slices, in vivo fiber photometry (with genetically-encoded optical neuropeptide and Ca2+ sensors), in vivo single cell Ca2+ imaging, in vivo photo-uncaging of drugs and neuropeptides, and automated measurement of pain-related behavior in mice. Candidates must have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related discipline, as well as substantial experience with electrophysiology, fluorescence imaging, or rodent behavioral analysis. Experience in pain research would be advantageous.

In addition, an Organic Chemistry Fellow is sought to work on the development of light-activated drugs and neuropeptides that will drive studies into the neural mechanisms of peptide signaling and drug action. A major goal is to improve the in vivo compatibility of photochemical caging groups that can be used for photopharmacology in behaving mice, and eventually, in humans. Candidates must have a PhD in chemistry and a strong record in small molecule synthesis. Additional knowledge in photochemistry and/or peptide synthesis would be advantageous.

Funding is available but fellows will be encouraged to apply for fellowships and mentored through the process.

One year *The term will be extended for increments of one year up to a total of three years, unless the university terminates the SSP student status for any of the reasons stated in paragraph 13 below, Termination of SSP Student Status.

6. OBLIGATIONS

1. The SSP student must work 50 hours per month for a specific research project at the university.
2. The SSP student must report his/her study and research achievements to the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering at the end of each semester. The submitted report will be evaluated by the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering.

7. BENEFITS

1. Exemption from 30,000 yen entrance examination fee, 300,000 yen enrollment fee and 535,800 yen/year tuition fee
2. To support living expenses, 150,000 yen/month is paid as salary for research project work. *You must pay some amount of taxes from this salary.
3. 150,000 yen is provided for travel and initial living costs. (given only to international applicants who are living outside Japan, and who have, or have the intention to acquire, "Student" status of Japanese residence at the time of entry into Japan)

8. ELIGIBILITY

Applicants are required to meet all of the following conditions

1. To have permission from the leader of the applicant's preferred SSP project to apply for that project
2. To hold a degree from an accredited institution comparable to the master's degree offered at KUT after 18 years of education, or to be scheduled to acquire such a degree before the KUT enrollment date
3. To be 35 years old or under at the time of enrollment, in principle
4. To have an excellent academic record and strong bachelor's and master's degrees from reputable universities
5. To have the intention, adequate knowledge and research skill to work in the research project
6. To have high English proficiency (TOEFL iBT 72, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, CET6)

9. APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Choose one research project from the SSP Research Project List
2. Send a complete Online Pre-Application Request to the leader of your preferred project via KUT Online Pre-Application Request Form and obtain the leader's permission to apply for that SSP project. Applicants are not allowed to make Pre-Application Request more than once in a given entry period. Please note that a project leader may not contact you in the case where your pre-application request is rejected.
3. When you obtain a permission from the project leader, complete all required documents and submit them to KUT by post. The documents must reach KUT by the deadline.

   * Since it is anticipated that it will take a considerable amount of time for applicants to prepare the documents for the formal application, we strongly recommend applicants to send a pre-application request to the leader of his/her preferred project at least 6 weeks prior to the formal application deadline.

10. ADMISSION DECISION

As mentioned above, only applicants who have obtained the permission of the leader of their preferred project are eligible to submit an application with documentation to KUT. The admission decision will be made after screening of the submitted documents, web interview, and exam in the specialized subject required for conducting the selected research project.

12. SPECIAL NOTICE

1. If you are still working towards your master's degree, a verified original master's degree certificate in English /Japanese from your university will be required before your enrollment can be completed. If you are not able to produce such a document, you will not be enrolled.
2. Students who join the projects in Economics and Management will conduct their research at Eikokuji campus which is located in down town Kochi City, 25 km from the main campus (Kami campus), and those students are also required to take classes once or twice a week at main campus. The most common means of transportation between Eikokuji campus and Kami campus are bus or JR train, and it takes around one hour.
3. If your application to KUT is successful and your resident status in Japan is "Student", KUT will assist you in finding appropriate single accommodation. At Kami campus, you can live in the International House if there is vacancy. At Eikokuji campus, you can live in the Takasone Dormitory C if there is vacancy. If you wish to bring your family members and live with them in Japan, or if you wish to change your accommodation, you must initiate your own apartment rental. In any case, you need to bear your own costs. ・International House (Kami Campus) ・Takasone Dormitory C (Eikokuji Campus) ・Renting a room individually
4. To complete the doctoral program as a SSP Student, you need to meet all of the following conditions. a: 3 year's enrollment in a doctoral program at KUT b: 10 or more doctoral course credits earned c: Successful completion of the doctoral dissertation defense after receiving a preliminary assessment held more than one year in advance d: Two or more papers in high level peer-reviewed journals, published at least two months before completion of the program; this is the basic requirement for holding a dissertation defense.
5. Students enrolled in this program can obtain Doctor of Engineering or Doctor of Philosophy depending on the research field.
6. Newly admitted foreign doctoral students will be charged about 33,000 yen as insurance premium. The students who do not have "Student" status of Japanese residence will be charged 3,000 yen as insurance premium (The price is subject to change).
7. 10,000 yen will be charged as dues for alumni association membership (The price is subject to change).
8. In any case where a SSP student is selected as a recipient of another institution's scholarship, his/her monthly pay as described in "7. Benefits" 2. will be adjusted according to KUT's rule.
9. The abstract of your doctoral dissertation and the results of your dissertation defense will be published on the web within 3 months after the conferment of your doctoral degree, and the full text of your dissertation will be published on the web within 1 year after the conferment of your doctoral degree.In cases where it seems inappropriate to publish a doctoral dissertation on the web due to a patent application related to the research, or some other special reasons, Kochi University of Technology may suspend the publication of the full text of a dissertation, and publish only its abstract on the web. Even in such cases, if publication of the full text of a dissertation is requested, and Kochi University of Technology agrees to the necessity, the full text of your doctoral dissertation may be disclosed.
10. Please note that KUT takes trust, truthfulness and academic integrity very seriously and we therefore expect applications to contain only true and complete information about the applicant. Applicants should be aware that KUT will take stern, corrective measures such as payment of exempted tuition fees, or even expulsion from the university, against any student found to have applied with false, incomplete, or missing information, including omission of information regarding educational background.

The Faculty of Computer Science of the University of Vienna has world-leading researchers in Computer Science who pursue basic as well as applied research. The UniVie Doctoral School Computer Science (DoCS, UniVie Doctoral School Computer Science DoCS) builds an essential framework to foster excellence in research and teaching. Its main focus is on young prospective researchers eager to make an impact on both basic research as well as applied problems with collaborations across the University and beyond. The DoCS aims to provide these young researchers with the broad knowledge and expertise needed to perform Computer Science research at the highest achievable quality. The Doctoral School trains doctoral candidates in solving basic as well as applied research questions of high relevance.

Extent of employment: 30.0 hours/week
