Post-doctoral Researcher in Operations Research and Energy Markets – Luxembourg

The Department of Economics and Management within the University of Luxembourg is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to conduct research at the interface of operations research and energy markets.

Your Role…

The post-doctoral researcher will be working at the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCL) as well as together with the FINATRAX Research Group of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust(SnT).

The prospective candidate will be involved in the following activities:

  • Carry out research at the interface of operations research and energy markets
  • Contribute to an inter-disciplinary research project on investigating the use of distributed ledger technology for financial products to trade renewable energies
  • Teach and provide guidance to master and PhD students
  • Disseminate results through scientific publications


We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in operations research, energy economics, financial engineering, electrical or systems engineering, or similar. In particular, the following requirements apply:

  • Strong interest in operations research, financial engineering, and use of data for modeling problems in energy systems and energy markets
  • Strong background in mathematical finance and stochastic optimization skills
  • Proven ability to code and apply data science techniques
  • Proven ability to autonomously conduct research at a post-doctoral level
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Willingness to evolve in a multilingual environment: fluency in English is a must; knowledge of French or German will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent communication and writing skills

The yearly gross salary for every Postdoctoral Researcher at the UL is EUR 77167 (full time) .
