The School of Sustainable Energy Engineering at Simon Fraser University (SFU), located on unceded Coast Salish Territory – the traditional territories of the Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw), Tsleil-Waututh, Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and Kwikwetlem First Nations – is actively building a diverse, inclusive community and invites applications for a Teaching-Stream Faculty position in either of the following areas:
- Area I: Electrical and Power Systems.
- Area II: Materials for Energy Systems.
The successful candidates will report to the Director of the SEE School. Their primary responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following.
- Developing course content, and teaching a regular course load, in subjects including:

· Electric Machines.
· Power Electronics.
· Power Generation and Conversion.
· Power Systems Analysis and Design.
|Area II: Materials for Energy Systems|
· Engineering Materials.
· Statics and Mechanics of Materials.
· Energy Storage.
· Computational Methods.
· Measurement and Analysis.
· Signals and Systems.
Contributing actively in building a vibrant culture in the SEE School, with service contributions that might include a lead role in an area such as:
- Academic Integrity and Student Conduct.
- Broad-based admissions, recruiting, and outreach.
- Experiential learning and capstone project coordination.
- Curriculum management (undergraduate or graduate) and Accreditation.
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Library liaison.
- Space allocation.
- Student liaison.
The ideal candidate is expected to possess and demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Ph.D. in engineering, with a focus in energy systems, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, mechatronic systems engineering, engineering physics, or other closely related discipline; Ph.D. candidates in these areas who are close to completion will also be considered.
- Proven excellence in developing and teaching engineering courses at the undergraduate and (where applicable) graduate levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to a team-based working culture.
- Demonstrated passion for sustainability in engineering practice.
- Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia within one year of assuming the position.
