The Cleveland Clinic’s Florida Research and Innovation Center (FRIC), Port St. Lucie Florida, invites applications for several full-time positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full faculty level.

Positions will be within the broad field of emerging infectious diseases. All areas of virology/microbiology relevant to human disease are of interest, including molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis, pathogen-host interactions, immune responses to infection, molecular virology/microbiology, vaccinology and antiviral therapies.

Ideal applicants will be creative and collaborative scientists using advanced approaches combining different elements of cell biology, genetics, bioinformatics, biochemistry and in vitro or in vivo models of infection.

The FRIC is dedicated to the discovery and advancement of innovative translational research, focused on infectious diseases and immuno-oncology. The Center is an exceptional state-of-the-art facility with approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of dedicated research and support spaces. The FRIC has Shared Resource facilities in Flow Cytometry, Imaging, Bioinformatics, Select Agents and a Vivarium supporting ABSL-3 suites https://www.lerner.ccf.org/fric/

Faculty at the FRIC will closely collaborate with scientists at the Lerner Research Institute, a network of ~190 labs at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus in Ohio. Faculty at the FRIC will also be encouraged to establish collaborations with physicians at the regional hospitals of Cleveland Clinic Florida.

The FRIC is part of the recently established Global Center for Pathogen Research & Human Health of Cleveland Clinic. https://www.lerner.ccf.org/pathogen-research/

This Center will broaden understanding of viral pathogens and the human immune response toward preparing and protecting against future public health threats. The Center is organized around six critical programs: Virus and Immune Discovery; Personalized Medicine; People and Population Studies; Diagnostics Tests; Technology Development, Treatments and Vaccines; and Clinical Application & Healthcare Deliverables.  The highly collaborative, integrated teams of these Programs set the Center apart from other pathogens research efforts.

Key requirements

The selected candidates will have an outstanding record in infectious diseases/virology or related fields (e.g. immunology). The selected candidates will possess scientific vision, leadership skills and be competitive in acquiring extramural grants. Basic requirements for the positions include a Ph.D. and/or M.D., as well as postdoctoral research experience and a strong record of research accomplishments and publications in the field of infectious diseases/virology or related fields. Candidates for positions at the Associate or Full faculty level will have demonstrated a strong track record of publications and external funding.
