YOUR TASKS

Germany‘s oldest ecology chair is open for re-appointment. Accordingly, we are looking for an internationally renowned candidate with proven expertise in the field of experimental freshwater ecology of animals. In direct vicinity to the river Rhine, the largest waterway and one of the most iconic freshwater habitats in Germany, the professorship runs the „Ecological Rhine Station“ as a unique research infrastructure. Successful candidates are expected to develop an internationally visible research agenda that integrates both this station and the Ecological Field Station Rees-Grietherbusch. Applicants are expected to actively contribute to the Department‘s research initiatives (e.g. Collaborative Research Center, e.g. CRC 1211 and Clusters of Excellence). The successful candidate is expected to teach Ecology in its full breadth in all relevant Bachelor and Master programs.

YOUR PROFILE

Your research program is internationally renowned and has a strong focus on the level of ecological communities to investigate how freshwater animals respond to anthropogenic environmental changes. Your research integrates experimental studies of non-model organisms by focusing on ecological traits and molecular approaches. You have a proven track record on topics as for example trophic interactions in space and time, dispersal/invasion, biodiversity, resilience or phenotypic plasticity. You have relevant teaching experience in ecology and biodiversity to contribute to and extend undergraduate as well as graduate teaching programs. Your research agenda strengthens the already established research focus on biodiversity genomics and molecular ecology at the Institute of Zoology.
