Posted 2 years ago

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Velenosi lab located at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Research in the Velenosi lab is focused at the intersection of pharmacology and metabolomics, studying metabolic biomarkers of drug response and characterizing therapeutic targets to improve cancer therapy. We are seeking an outstanding candidate with a strong interest in the emerging field of cancer pharmacometabolomics. The exciting multidisciplinary projects will build on a recent study (https://doi.org/10.1101/2022.01.19.475906) utilizing state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and advanced molecular biology approaches in highly translational triple negative breast cancer patient-derived xenograft models. The scope of work will include in vitro and ex vivo tumor models, in vivo therapeutic studies and collaborative opportunities to assess clinical samples. The candidate will design, initiate and manage research projects as well as supervise undergraduate and graduate students.

The successful candidate will have recently completed their PhD in pharmacology, metabolomics, cancer biology or related field with a strong publication record. Experience with animal models is required. A strong foundation in mass spectrometry and R data analysis are desirable. The candidate will have excellent verbal and written English communication skills, in addition to exceptional scientific writing.

The term is for two years with the possibility of extension. Applicants should send a cover letter including relevant research experience and statement of research interest as well as their CV and contact information for three references in a single PDF to thomas.velenosi@ubc.ca with the subject line “Pharmacometabolomics Postdoc Application”. Review of applications will begin March 1, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
