Description
The San Diego State University School of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences maintains an open “pool” of applications for temporary faculty positions and reviews this pool on an as-needed basis to identify qualified applicants for available instructional work in the SDSU-UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Audiology on the SDSU campus. Instructional work includes precepting (supervising) Au.D. students in the SDSU Audiology Clinic and/or teaching didactic courses.

We welcome applications from prospective temporary faculty with expertise or experience in the following areas:

  • Hearing science (acoustics, anatomy/physiology)
  • Diagnostic audiology
  • Hearing aids/amplification
  • Aural rehabilitation/management
  • Vestibular/balance disorders
  • Auditory processing disorders
  • Pediatric audiology
  • Intraoperative monitoring
  • Hearing conservation
  • Speech perception
  • Psychoacoustics
  • Electrophysiology/otoacoustic emissions
  • Cochlear implants
  • Clinical methods (lab activities)
  • Professional issues
  • Research methods and evidence-based practice

Temporary appointments may be either full- or part-time. Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, to be renewed contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Applications will remain in our applicant pool during the academic year you apply, meaning we begin accepting documents to the pool starting March 1st and will purge the files the July 1st of the following year.

Qualifications
Criteria

  • Au.D. degree
  • ASHA certification in Audiology (CCC-A)
  • CA license (Audiology)
  • Demonstrated clinical experience and professional development in the field of audiology
  • Experience working with people from underrepresented populations and/or culturally- and linguistically-diverse populations

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
