Position Description: 

A Postdoctoral Research Scholar position is available in the Boudreau Lab of Genomic and Molecular Medicine (PI: Dr. Ryan Boudreau) in the Department of Internal Medicine. Research focuses on novel genetic / molecular pathways and therapies for cardiac, neurologic, and metabolic disease:

  1. Effects of microRNAs / RNA-binding proteins in neurological and cardiac disease (heart failure and arrhythmias)
  2. Viral and non-viral mediated inhibition of endogenous microRNAs for neuro- and cardio-protection
  3. Discovering and characterizing new or understudied disease-related genes and microproteins in heart and/or brain
  4. Gene-targeted therapies for heart and brain disease
  5. Regulation of mitochondrial metabolism / function

Research in the laboratory includes the use of viral vectors, mouse models, microsurgery, cell culture systems, bioinformatics, genetic engineering and manipulation, and human tissues. Selected candidate is expected to work independently while interacting in a collaborative environment.

Education Requirement: A Doctoral degree is required.

Required Qualifications: A strong research background in genetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, whole-animal physiology and an excellent publication record is required.
