The Genomic Regulation Center (CRG) is launching the 8 th summer internship program to offer undergraduate and master’s students the opportunity to conduct summer research at the CRG. The objective of the program is to encourage students, whatever their nationality, to pursue a scientific career and introduce them to an international laboratory experience.

The intensive nature of the program requires a full-time commitment from the participant. Students are required to participate in all planned activities.
Positions will be allocated on a competitive basis, taking into account the student’s academic records and motivation and reference letters. Each student will be paired with a specific laboratory based on the student’s interest and background.
To complete the internship, fellows will have to provide a final scientific report and participate in certain activities that will be organized throughout the internship.
Areas of concentration of opportunities:
- Bioinformatics and genomics.
- Cell and development biology.
- Regulation of genes, stem cells and cancer.
- Systems biology.

Program period
2 months from June / July to September 2020.
- The summer training will include 320 hours of work (40 hours / week), spread over 2 months from June / July to September 2020 , but all summer interns should be at the CRG the week of July 20, 2020 because there are some will have specific activities organized.
Eligibility conditions (criteria)
Eligibility criteria for undergraduate students:
- Undergraduate students with an excellent academic record and a strong interest in biosciences and biomedical research (prior laboratory experience is highly recommended) who are in their last two years studying life sciences or related subjects (for example, bioinformatics, biomedicine, biochemistry, pharmacology, chemistry).
- Two full years (4 semesters) of college courses completed at the start of the internship.
- Applicants may not have obtained an undergraduate degree at the time of the internship (summer 2020).
- Applicants may not have previously obtained a “CRG summer internship”.
- High level of English.
- You have the possibility of concluding a student placement / internship agreement through your university.
Eligibility criteria for master students:
- Master’s students with an excellent academic record and a strong interest in biosciences and biomedical research (prior laboratory experience is highly recommended) who are currently enrolled in a master’s degree at an accredited university and after the summer internship.
- Applicants may not have previously obtained a “CRG summer internship”
- High level of English.
- You have the possibility of concluding a student placement / internship agreement through your university.
- Applicants may not have been at the CRG before the start of the internship.
Opportunity cost
(Fully funded)
- All selected candidates will receive: € 400 / month.
- If the candidate is not from Barcelona: 1 return ticket to the student’s home (European ticket up to € 300 / Overseas up to € 800 )
- Meal vouchers (lunch / working days) for 2 months.
- Student interns must provide their own health and accident insurance in case it is not provided by the University
- From this allowance, students are responsible for their own accommodation.
