Grant of € 10,000 or less from the Minor foundation for defenders of climate change mitigation

The Minor Foundation for Major Challenges is a Norwegian foundation that supports communication projects that advance the transition to a low-carbon economy. We believe that emissions should drop dramatically over the next two decades, and in 2019 the foundation therefore decided to distribute its capital over the next 10 to 15 years.

We are looking for projects in the range of € 20,000 to € 1,000,000 and have designed a two-step application process where you first submit a short dossier and, on this basis, we can invite you to submit a full application .

We also have a simplified application process for grants up to € 10,000.

The medjouel.com team informs you that the foundation accepts applications throughout the year and will process your application at the next meeting of the board of directors. We hold six board meetings each year.

We only support projects that fall within our strategy and grants are awarded at the discretion of the board of directors.

Strategy for the Minor Foundation 2019-2023

Vision

MFMC supports a variety of voices that engage citizens, decision makers and businesses to accelerate the transformation to a low carbon society.

We argue that
climate change is increasingly recognized as a major challenge and has emerged as an important policy area. Despite this, we have not yet seen any action corresponding to the magnitude of the problem. An urgent task for communication on climate change is therefore to foster a better understanding of the scale of the changes needed and the urgency with which they must be made. The MFMC will give priority to projects that meet this challenge and intends to radically increase its funding for this purpose.

The Minor Foundation supports communication projects which

• aim to reduce GHG emissions in accordance with the urgent transformation required
• lead to a change in policy or behavior among decision-makers or lead to changes in policies or practices in public or private institutions
• increase public support for climate policy measures
• are otherwise difficult to finance

Priorities 2019-2023

Encourage and support innovation in climate communication
• Increase the number of voices and stories in climate advocacy
• Help strengthen social and political movements that are opening up to radical change
• Focus on supporting European proposals

Support schemes

The Minor foundation has a two-step application process where organizations are invited to submit their ideas. The board invites those with the best ideas to submit full nominations. The Minor foundation can co-create projects with partners.

The Minor Foundation also has a low threshold support system for small grants up to € 10,000. Grant applications are in one step and have simplified reporting procedures.

Please note that to be considered as a potential candidate on the Unifor application portal, you must prove that you represent an organization. You will be asked to submit an officially certified proof of registration of the organization you work for.
