Faculty Positions in Information Systems – Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Qatar seeks applicants for two teaching-track positions in the Information Systems program beginning in Fall, 2024 (1st August 2024). The primary responsibilities for these positions are to teach two undergraduate Information Systems (IS) courses per semester and engage in research or other scholarly activities that contribute to the educational mission of this world-renowned IS program. These two positions are based at our branch campus in Doha, Qatar (CMU in Qatar) and offer competitive salary, excellent international health care coverage, and for those eligible, allowances for schooling, university housing, and relocation travel expenses. Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Information Systems or a closely related field. While we welcome applicants with relevant backgrounds, we are specifically looking for candidates with expertise in one of the following domains:

Position 1: Information Security

This position necessitates expertise and strong technical skills in Networking, Web Security, and Cyber Security. Additional skills in topics related to applied aspects of IS security and/or topics aligned with our core courses and concentrations are also desirable.  A record/potential of teaching effectiveness and/or relevant industry experience is welcomed.

 Position 2: Business Intelligence and Analytics

Essential expertise for this position is in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. Additional skills in topics related to IS Consulting, Decision Support Systems, and/or aligned with our core courses and concentrations are also desirable.  A record/potential of teaching effectiveness and/or relevant industry experience is welcomed.

Appointments for these positions will be at the assistant, associate, or full teaching professor rank with multi-year contracts and promotion opportunities. These positions emphasize teaching excellence, curricular development, and supervising collaborative student projects. Student advising and mentoring are highly encouraged. Teaching load is typically two courses per semester. Faculty are also expected to engage in research or other activities that contribute to the field or to society at large. Demonstrable professional growth during the term of appointment, such as research publications, engagement in the professional community, and/or publication of educational materials will be required for reappointment and promotion.

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (http://www.qatar.cmu.edu/) is a branch campus that operates in concert with several other American and European branch campuses under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation’s Education City. The branch campus closely follows the admissions requirements and English language curriculum of the home campus, which awards all degrees. The several thousand students in Education City are a broad mix of nationalities, but primarily from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. CMUQ’s faculty is a mix of academics hired specifically to the campus and seconded faculty from the main campus.
