Specific Responsibilities

Faculty will:

  • Ensure teaching design and methods comply with pedagogical and UCW standards
  • Assess student achievement of learning outcomes using a variety of assessments and learning activities
  • Develop, revise and adapt appropriate learning resources for students
  • Provide academic support to students inside and outside of the classroom (regularly scheduled office hours, email, group study sessions, etc.)
  • Make appropriate student referrals to academic and personal university support programs as and when needed
  • Contribute to high quality curriculum development and revision
  • Maintain contacts with relevant industry and professional associations
  • Attend and participate in department and university faculty meetings pertinent to faculty responsibilities
  • Contribute to professional conferences, seminars, and workshops in your field of expertise and in teaching and learning
  • Remain current in technical knowledge and instructional delivery approaches and techniques
  • Participate in professional development workshops, seminars and training and maintain your own continuing professional development
  • Conduct further research into their specific field of knowledge and/or scholarship of teaching and learning

The Position The Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology, Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Environmental and Resource Economics. The successful candidate will have strong theoretical foundations and advanced quantitative and analytical skills. Specific expertise in environmental policy and regulation, machine learning, experimental economics, or environmental valuation will be an asset. A research program with links to sustainable development goals, Indigenous communities, or climate change are also valued assets of a successful applicant. We also seek candidates who will support and advance university commitments to equity, diversity and inclusivity.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to achieve excellence in research with an externally-funded research program, interdisciplinary research collaborations, and the training of graduate students. Interdisciplinary linkages are expected to extend to Faculties of Science and Engineering within the College of Natural and Applied Sciences and across campus. The position involves excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level. Candidates must hold a PhD in Environmental Economics, Agricultural Economics, Resource Economics, Economics, Business Economics, or a closely related field. The Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics in the Faculty of Medicine, at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invite applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Digital Health.

Tier 2 Chairs are five-year positions, renewable once, intended for exceptional emerging scholars who have the potential to lead in their fields. Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a full-time, tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at UBC. Normally, applicants for Tier 2 Chairs should be no more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree at the time of Chair nomination. The BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, located at BC Children’s Hospital, is the largest research institute of its kind in Western Canada, where more than 300 Investigators form a dynamic and highly collaborative research community that aims to improve the health of children and their families. The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with a large and diverse community of basic scientists and clinicians.

Reporting to the Heads of both the Departments of Pediatrics and of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics, the incumbent will be expected to develop and maintain a strong, innovative and internationally-recognized research program focused on the development and evaluation of digital solutions that target diagnostics or therapeutics in point-of-care areas such as pain, complex care, and personalized clinical decision-making. This incumbent will have the potential to be a leader in their research field. As Chairholder, the individual will be expected to effectively supervise graduate students, collaborate with other faculty members, obtain external research funding, and teach in both the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics for undergraduate and graduate students. Clinician-Scientist will support clinical duties as a Pediatrician, Pediatric Subspecialist, or Pediatric Anesthesiologist, as appropriate. The potential of an applicant's research program to complement and extend the existing research and teaching strengths of the department will be an important factor in selection. The successful applicant will also hold a concurrent appointment as an Investigator within the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD, MD/PhD or MD with specialty certifications in Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, or a related area. Clinician Scientists must hold a medical license, or the ability to hold a medical license in Canada to practice as a Pediatric Anesthesiologist or Pediatrician. If appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, the successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of ability in teaching and will be expected to participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate teaching activities of the unit. The incumbent will also show demonstrated ability in scholarly activity and will be expected to provide service to the University and the broader academic and professional community. If appointed at the rank of Associate Professor, Tenure, the successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of successful teaching and ability to direct graduate students, evidence of sustained and productive scholarly activity, and must be willing to participate in the affairs of the Department and the University. Reporting to the Vice-President, Academic and Research, and serving as a member of senior academic administration, this position will provide a transformative vision, leadership, and support to the Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research and Applied Studies – and the University as a whole – in the mission to further Indigenize the UPEI campus and academic curriculum. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the continued development and implementation of this Faculty. They will be involved in the development and implementation of UPEI’s new Strategic Plan, offering their expertise in administration, change-management, program development and Indigenous community relations.

As one of the University’s key contacts for Indigenous community engagement, the successful candidate must bring a strong record of consensus and relationship-building with Indigenous Peoples, communities, organizations, universities, and colleges. Bringing to life the concept of Etuaptmumk – ‘two-eyed seeing’ – the new Dean will ensure a balanced approach and cooperation across disciplines, faculty, staff, and community members while building and sustaining a culturally appropriate environment that supports academic, research, operational excellence, and the co-production of knowledge.

The salary range for this position is $155,000 to $195,000 per annum.

THE POSITION The Dean will report to the provost and vice-president (academic) and is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Faculty of Business Administration. The Dean will be the primary champion and advocate for the Faculty of Business Administration in terms of fundraising and connections to the community, and the point person to support faculty, staff, and students. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will hold a PhD or professional graduate degree, or comparable terminal degree in business administration. They will have a successful record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with the rank of a tenured associate or full professor. The Faculty of Education at Queen’s University invites applicants for a tenure-track/tenured position in Indigenous Education at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with a preferred starting date of July 1, 2024. The ideal candidate will work in both primary-junior (JK-6) and intermediate-senior (7-12) school levels but may have expertise more specifically in one of the levels. They will participate in our BEd and graduate programs, including the Community-Based Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP), On-Campus ITEP, and our World Indigenous Studies in Education (WISE) graduate program.

Applicants must be Indigenous persons with clear and demonstrable ties to an Indigenous community(ies). In accordance with the Hiring of Indigenous Specific Positions – Interim Policy, applicants will be required to provide documents confirming their Indigenous identity. They will demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the Faculty’s programs. Rationale for Targeted Hiring Program: Queen’s University has developed a Targeted Hiring Policy and Procedure in accordance with guidelines on Special Programs by the Ontario Human Rights Commission. We are seeking an Indigenous individual for this position for the following reasons:

  1. Our Indigenous education programs are at the core of our work at the Faculty of Education and have enabled us to become a leader in this area. Many Indigenous and non-Indigenous students will benefit from having an Indigenous academic fill this position.
  2. An Indigenous person will support and educate Indigenous students on campus and across the province through our many Indigenous-related programs. For example, our Community-Based Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP) has grown from a tight-knit partnership with Kenjgewin Teg in the Manitoulin-North Shore Community – to four community sites reaching across the province from Mushkegowuk, to Lambton-Kent, to Tyendinaga. A fifth site, Pikangikum, has been confirmed for 2024, and more communities continue to approach us about expansion.
  3. Our Master of Education in World Indigenous Studies in Education (WISE) program continues to expand, and we are exploring an EdD rooted in Indigenous education and Land-Based Education.
  4. Our on-campus ITEP program remains popular and important. To respond to these growing needs, we must have more Indigenous expertise in our Faculty.
  5. As these programs continue to serve more Indigenous students and scholars, the Faculty must build strong cultural supports and ensure our faculty complement reflects the needs and goals of our Indigenous BEd and graduate students. This position will also expand research collaborations and opportunities for our faculty and students to engage in community-based research, rooted in Indigenous knowledges and methodologies with scholars across the University and Turtle Island. 

Prior to May 1, 2022, the University required all students, faculty, staff, and visitors (including contractors) to declare their COVID-19 vaccination status and provide proof that they were fully vaccinated or had an approved accommodation to engage in in-person University activities. These requirements were suspended effective May 1, 2022, but the University may reinstate them at any point.

A distinctive feature of the Planning Program is its location within a wider Department of Geography and Planning, which allows for fertile collaborations at the interface of social and physical sciences and planning action. Faculty can work with exceptional students across these terrains and across the economic, social, urban, environmental, infrastructural and design dimensions of planning. The appointment is at the University of Toronto, which is a tri-campus, research-intensive institution. The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting as early as July 15, 2024. Qualifications Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Psychology by the time of appointment with substantive research experience and interest in the field of Social Psychology. PhD candidates with solid indication of imminent completion may be hired at the rank of Instructor and will be promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor upon completion of the PhD. We are seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to the university and community through a combination of rigorous and responsible research; teaching and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students; and administration and service. We especially value prior experience and expertise teaching and mentoring members of historically marginalized communities or individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, specifically, those identifying as Indigenous, belonging to a racialized group, having physical or mental disabilities, or who are underrepresented in terms of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. The Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (EOAS; www.eoas.ubc.ca) in the Faculty of Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC) seeks a global research leader in isotope geochemistry and geochronology for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC).

Reporting to the Head of EOAS, the successful candidate will hold a PhD in geosciences or a related discipline. They will be an established researcher and have received wide recognition for their sustained accomplishments in high-temperature geo/thermochronology or isotope geochemistry.  The successful candidate will have extensive analytical experience, a publication record demonstrating impactful scientific contributions, demonstrated excellence in teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a strong track record of attracting research funding.  In addition to research and teaching, the successful candidate will contribute to ongoing academic leadership of geochemical and geochronologic research for the Pacific Centre for Isotopic and Geochemical Research (PCIGR; https://pcigr.ubc.ca). They will have a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, to create a welcoming community for all, particularly those who are historically, persistently or systematically marginalized. The successful candidate will be eligible to be hired as a tenured Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of EOAS at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. EOAS is the most academically-diverse and productive Earth science department in Canada, consistently rated in the top 10-15 programs globally. The department encompasses a wide range of disciplines from geology and mineral exploration to oceanography and atmospheric sciences, each of which applies the tools of geochemistry to address fundamental research problems. The diversity of research and analytical capabilities in EOAS offers a broad intellectual context and cutting-edge tools to explore inter-disciplinary research questions. PCIGR is one of the most advanced analytical facilities in the world for geochemical research, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for ultra-sensitive and precise analysis of trace elements and isotopes in a wide range of Earth system materials (from mantle plumes and ocean sediments to bivalves and honey). Over the past two decades, academic, industry, and government researchers from across UBC and around the world have used PCIGR to advance fundamental understanding of the Earth system, while also applying this knowledge to better understand the formation of economically-significant ore deposits.  Isotope geochemistry and geochronology are central to EOAS’ strength and to UBC’s strong industry partnerships: the EOAS-based Mineral Deposit Research Unit (https://mdru.ubc.ca) is one of the world’s strongest academic-industry mineral exploration partnerships, working to drive innovation in mineral exploration, a key sector of the BC and Canadian economy.
