Applications are invited for up to two exceptional candidates in Software Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, effective July 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful applicants will receive a probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The rank will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience in teaching and research.
We are seeking energetic and dynamic candidates who will be able to contribute substantially to the teaching and research efforts of the Department in software engineering. Candidates with expertise in all areas of software engineering will be considered, including cybersecurity, extended reality (AR/VR/MR), software evolution and architecture, software maintenance and quality assurance or distributed systems.
For a probationary appointment, successful candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering, or relevant similar field, demonstrate excellence or clear promise of excellence in research, including evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates independent research potential leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding. Candidates should provide evidence of teaching at the university level and will be expected to teach a variety of fundamental undergraduate and graduate courses in Software Engineering as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialization. In addition, candidates are expected to supervise graduate students and participate in other educational and professional activities including administrative duties within the Department, Faculty and University. The ability to become eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario is required for this appointment.
