The logic research group at the Computing Sciences Unit at the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University is looking for a postdoc in the field of computational logic, broadly speaking.
Job Description
We offer a one-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in computational logic in Tampere University, Finland. Candidates specializing in different topics in logic are encouraged to apply. The position will involve research on the theory of computational logics. The exact research agenda will be tailored according to the candidate’s research interests and background.
The Tampere logic group currently consists of 11 researchers, with five faculty members, three postdocs and three PhD-students. The group’s research interests span a wide range of topics, ranging from finite model theory and complexity of logics to answer set programming and explainability in AI.
Requirements
A successful candidate holds a PhD degree in logic or a nearby field. You should have your PhD degree ready latest by January 1, 2024. We expect a competence to pursue independent scientific work and adequate teaching skills. You should also be fluent in spoken and written English.
We appreciate contacts to the international research community. A good publication record relating to theoretical topics in logic is valued.

We offer
The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of one year, preferably 1 January – 31 December 2024. A later start can be considered, but the end date cannot be delayed. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees.
The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a Postdoctoral Research Fellow is placed on level 5-6 of the job requirements scale, depending on career stage. A typical salary for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow is 3500 – 4000 EUR per month. The salary increases based on experience.
