The Ernst Mach Grant program is named after the famous Austrian physicist and philosopher Ernst Mach (1838-1916). The grant program is financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW). Students and young researchers from foreign universities are invited to apply for this grant to come to Austria for a research or a study stay.
Ernst Mach grant – worldwide
The program Ernst Mach worldwide is targeted at young researchers from all disciplines and countries (except Austria) who wish to pursue a research project in Austria.

Ernst Mach Grant for studying at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule)
This program is aimed at students from non-European universities who wish to spend a semester or two at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences (‘Fachhochschule’).
Target group: undergraduates and graduates from non-European universities
Target institution: all Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’, see http://www.fachhochschulen.ac.at/en/home)
Duration: 4 to 10 months
Age limit: 35 years

Ernst Mach Grant – Eurasia-Pacific Uninet
The program Ernst Mach – Eurasia-Pacific Uninet is aimedat postgraduates and postdocs from China and Mongolia who want to do a research project in Austria.
Target group: postgraduates pursuing a doctoral/PhD program at one of EPU’s member institutions in China or Mongolia and post docs pursuing academic work at one of EPU’s member institutions in China or Mongolia.
Duration: 1 to 9 months

Ernst Mach Grant – ASEA-UNINET
The Ernst Mach Grant – ASEA-UNINET is targeted at graduates, postgraduates and postdocs from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam want to do a research project in Austria.
Target group: Graduates of artistic fields for a study visit in the field of music; Postgraduates doing a doctorate/PhD-program in Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam; Postgraduates who want to carry do a doctorate/PhD-program in Austria and fulfill the requirements for admission; Postdocs who are involved in teaching and research at a university in Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam.
Duration: graduates, postdocs: 1 to 9 months postgraduates: max. 36 months
