Position Summary:
The Sigmund Weis School of Business of Susquehanna University seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Real Estate. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in fall 2024. Undergraduate teaching includes multiple courses in our new Real Estate major and possibly other courses based on the candidate’s qualifications and interests. Additional responsibilities include curriculum development, scholarship, advising students, and service within the Business School and across the University.

Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Finance, Applied Economics, or a related field with a documented specialization in Real Estate. Candidates who are ABD with expected completion by August 2024 will also be considered. A record that illustrates current (or suggests the potential for) excellent teaching is also required. This candidate will be expected to interact openly and inspire students through their teaching strategies, demonstrating a high level of organization and communication.
Candidates need to meet the School’s definition of a Scholarly Academic and demonstrate they are an active academic scholar in a business (or related) discipline; real estate need not be the primary research focus, though a portion of the research agenda should be related to issues in real estate economics/finance.
To do this, a faculty must either have received his/her Ph.D. within the past 5 years or must have at least two publications within the prior 5 years of:· an article in a quality management, marketing, business, economics, or business-related refereed journal (academic, professional, pedagogical)· a scholarly book· a widely adopted, non-self-published textbook
Note: New Ph.D.’s are considered SA for five years after receiving their Ph.D. By the end of the fifth year, the faculty member must meet the general SA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications· Ability to design, develop, and teach undergraduate courses to support the new major. These include real estate foundations, strategy, and financial and capital markets· Ability to teach an Introductory Corporate Finance class to all majors in the SWSB.· Relevant industry experience
Secondary Qualifications · Ability to teach Finance, Economics, and/or Data Analytics.· Ability to teach broadly in the management field· Willingness to occasionally teach first-year students
