Salary
£27511 to £34804 per annum (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £30942 with relevant PhD).

The purpose of this role will be to have specific responsibility for research, for developing research objectives and proposals for a research project to characterise the contribution of chromosome structure and composition to cell division fidelity. More specifically, focus will be given to using advanced imaging and proteomics tools to study the least understood chromosome compartment – the mitotic chromosome periphery. You will be expected to plan and conduct work using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research, and will be responsible for writing up your work for publication and to resolve problems in meeting research objectives and deadlines in collaboration with others. You will join an established team, led by Dr Daniel Booth, whose main areas of research interest include chromosome biology and cell division. You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend your research portfolio. To write up research work for publication and/or contribute to the dissemination at national/international conferences, resulting in successful research outputs. To identify opportunities and assist in writing bids for research grant applications. You will prepare proposals and applications to both external and/or internal bodies for funding, contractual or accreditation purposes. You will hold a PhD or equivalent in relevant subject area or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience in research area or near to completion of a PhD. You will supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate students projects as appropriate and participate in the assessment of student knowledge and co-supervise projects at Masters level.

The post is offered on a fixed term contract until 30th September 2024. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
