We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious postdoctoral fellow to study the pathophysiological bases of vascular anomalies via an integrated analysis of “omics” data (incl. single cell and bulk transcriptome, methylome, genome). The postdoctoral fellow will participate in all the omic aspects of the studies, from data analysis and writing papers for submission to a peer-reviewed scientific journals.
The postdoctoral fellow will join the Human Molecular Genetics (GEHU) unit headed by Pr. Miikka VIKKKULA, located at the de Duve Institute, Faculty of Medicine, University of Louvain, Brussels campus (https://www.deduveinstitute.be/). De Duve Institute is an international multidisciplinary institute dedicated to biomedical research.

The postdoctoral fellow will work in collaboration with the PhD students and senior scientists of the group, including Dr Pascal Brouillard, UCLouvain NGS platform manager, and Dr Raphael Helaers, Bioinformatician who developed the in-house used Highlander software for NGS variant analyses (https://sites.uclouvain.be/highlander/).
We are looking for candidates with a PhD in Genetics, Molecular or Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, (Bio) Statistics, or Computational Sciences and a strong record of academic achievement. Demonstrating previous doctoral experience working with omics data, especially RNASeq data, is recommended. Good knowledge of the R programming language, Bioconductor infrastructure and Unix HPC environment (e.g. Bash scripting, Python, Slurm submissions) would be an asset. The applicant must have excellent oral and written English skills. The applicant will be able to work independently to develop and drive his/her own research ideas, taking advantage of the resources available to the group, as well as working in a team based-environment.
