Position Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course during the Summer 2020 term:
PHYS 259 – Electricity and Magnetism (for students in Engineering)
Course Description:
Electric and magnetic fields related to charges and current through Maxwell’s equations. Energy stored in fields, potential energy, and voltage. Conductors, insulators, and dielectrics. Resistance, capacitance, and inductance with applications to RC/RL circuits.
Summer 2020 term dates: June 22 – August 31, 2020
Teaching Schedule: TR 08:00 – 10:50, W 08:00 – 09:50

- Cover letter
- Current curriculum vitae
- Concise statement of teaching philosophy
- Teaching dossier describing past teaching experience
Three letters of reference are required, sent directly to phasgradstudies@ucalgary.ca no later than the application deadline.
A Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy is a strong asset; demonstrated teaching experience is required.

Remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Please see the Faculty Association’s website at www.tucfa.com for further information regarding conditions of employment and remuneration.
As per the Collective Agreement, the Department of Physics and Astronomy will adhere to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.
