Position Overview
Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Health Communication, with an anticipated appointment in Fall 2026. This is a tenure-track position, with the home department determined based on the candidate’s academic background.
The CRC will advance research in health communication, knowledge mobilization, knowledge translation, and/or implementation science, particularly in the context of historically underserved populations to promote health equity.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:

Hold a PhD or equivalent in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field;

Demonstrate an original and dynamic research program in health communication;
-
Show evidence of a strong publication record;
-
Be committed to student mentorship and supervision;
-
Demonstrate the potential for securing external research funding, including from the Tri-Agency (SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR) and other funding bodies;
-
Engage in impactful work aimed at advancing health equity through research with marginalized or underserved communities.
Position Details

Academic rank: Assistant or Associate Professor, based on experience;
-
Salary, workload, and benefits are aligned with CRC Tier 2 appointments and MSVU’s collective agreement with the Faculty Association;

Appointment is subject to approval by the Canada Research Chair Program Secretariat and final university budget approval.
Candidates who earned their highest degree more than 10 years ago may still qualify through the CRC Tier 2 justification process (e.g., career interruptions such as parental leave, illness, clinical training).
Tier 2 CRC Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

Be exceptional emerging researchers recognized for their creative contributions to research;

Show the potential for international recognition in their field within the next 5–10 years;

Demonstrate the ability to attract, mentor, and retain excellent trainees and students;

Propose an innovative and high-quality research program.
