Position Description:

The Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences at the University of Manitoba is inviting applications for a full-time, probationary Assistant Professor position leading to tenure. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The department is seeking an emerging researcher with a passion for excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a competitive research program and supervise graduate students.

Responsibilities:

• Teaching (45%)
  Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in food science, human nutrition, and dietetics.

• Research (40%)
  Conduct applied research in human nutrition and build relationships with industry, government, and non-governmental organizations.

• Service and Outreach (15%)
  Participate in departmental and university service activities and contribute to outreach efforts.

Required Qualifications:

1. A PhD in Human Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, or a related field.

2. Eligibility for registration with the Manitoba Association of Registered Dietitians.

3. Relevant research experience in applied human nutrition.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

5. Demonstrated potential to develop a competitive, externally funded research program and supervise graduate students.

6. Experience in developing effective teaching programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The department currently has 20 full-time tenure-track faculty members and 4 instructors. It offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs in food science, human nutrition, and dietetics.
