Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Faculty of Arts at Ryerson University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Developmental Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2022, subject to final budgetary approval. We are particularly interested in the study of marginalised and/ or stigmatised groups and intersectionality in adolescence and emerging adulthood. Interest in, and demonstrated capacity for research and teaching in the area of Black Psychology is an asset.
The successful candidate will engage in a combination of teaching, research, supervision, and service duties. Specifically, these include contributing to our undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA/PhD) programs through teaching and student supervision; establishing and maintaining a strong, independent, and externally-funded research program; and engaging in the academic life of the Department, the Faculty, and the University.
We are interested in candidates who will contribute to our existing research and teaching strengths by bringing innovative and diverse perspectives and experiences to their work. Candidates will hold a PhD in Developmental Psychology and will present evidence of the following:
- a strong, emerging research profile and scholarly record that demonstrates evidence of impact through peer-reviewed publications and other contributions including high-quality knowledge translation and applied work; as well as an ability to establish and maintain an independent, externally-funded research program;
- potential for high-quality teaching and student training for a diverse student population;
- a capacity and commitment to collegial service; and
- a willingness to share a commitment to our departmental values of equity, diversity, inclusion and justice, including assisting us in expanding our capacity for diversity in the broadest sense.
