The Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver Campus) seeks an exceptional research mathematician to fill a position at the rank of Professor with tenure, starting August 1, 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter. A PhD (or equivalent) is required. The successful candidate must also have demonstrated effectiveness in high-level teaching, mentorship, and research supervision, and succeeded in competing for research program funding at the highest levels. The scope and impact of applicant’s research contributions to date will have a strong influence on the search. The priority field is the branch of Scientific Computation and its theoretical analysis focused on multiscale modeling and computation, with inspiration from molecular dynamics and advanced materials science. Evidence of engagement with the latest advances in statistical learning methods will be considered a significant asset.

The successful applicant will be expected to interact with researchers in related fields across the University, to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to supervise the research of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

The salary will be commensurate with experience and research record.

The closing date for applications is May 2, 2020.

A complete application package consists of a current CV, a list of publications, a statement of research and teaching interests, a teaching dossier or similar record of teaching experience, a statement describing the candidate’s experience working with a diverse student body and contributions to creating/advancing a culture of equity and inclusion, and the names and contact details of four established researchers willing to provide letters of reference. The preferred format is a single PDF file, submitted electronically through https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/jobs/15853.

Availability of this position is subject to departmental ratification and funding.
