Associate Position: A PhD-trained individual is needed as a Research Associate (early faculty level) position in the Spivack lab. The laboratory has two major emphases. The first is molecular interrogation of human lung epithelium in various clinical conditions, using human cytologic brushings, primary cell culture, and laser capture-based lung specimens interrogated by technologies ranging from PCR to genomics/transcriptomics, as well as metabolomics/proteomics by collaboration. Initial high impact discovery papers are in press (e.g. Nature Genetics) and emerging. The second is development of non-invasive lung biomarker development, based on these lung epithelial findings. Development of exhaled breath-based and other techniques. Clinical contexts are based on a highly unique human lung tissue repository, and include studies on lung carcinogenesis, asthma and COPD. The work engages several unique lab based IP/technologies; future IP development is possible. Other lab personnel work in epigenomics and clinical subject recruitment.
