Eligibility
  • We require very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Applicants who have not attended an MA program where the language of instruction has been Swedish or English have to verify English language proficiency by submitting a certificate of results from internationally recognized language tests, such as TOEFL or IELTS.
  • A requirement for employment as a doctoral student is that the applicant must have been or will be admitted to the department’s doctoral studies program, where the aptitude to successfully complete the PhD program is crucial.
Requirements
  1. Curriculum Vitae.
  2. A brief cover letter (max 500 words) indicating your motives for applying.
  3. Examined thesis or accepted research article (or equivalent) in English or Swedish, clearly designated as the primary research writing sample.
  4. Examined thesis or accepted research article (or equivalent) in English or Swedish, clearly designated as the secondary research writing sample.
  5. At least one of the submitted research texts (thesis, article or equivalent) must be single-authored. If a co-authored piece is included, it must be accompanied by a co-author statement.
  6. A self-reflection statement on the applicant’s designated theses or articles where she/he discusses its main strengths and weaknesses (max. 1000 words).
  7. Certified transcripts of academic records (to demonstrate qualification for admission).
  8. Contact information for two academic references (address, email address, and telephone number).
  9. If applicable: Certificate of English language written and oral proficiency from internationally recognized tests such as TOEFL or IELTS.
  10. Applicants that have attended an MA program in Swedish or English do not need to submit test scores.
