The Department of Surgery, University of Toronto is inviting applications for the position of Professor and Dan Family Chair in Neurosurgery. This position is for a five-year term, renewable for a second term after review.

The effective date of this appointment is flexible, with a tentative start date of September 1^st, 2020.  

The Dan Chair in the Division of Neurosurgery is responsible for the academic activities and residency training in the Division and plays a coordinating role for activities that traverse the 5 divisions at our fully and partially affiliated teaching sites. The Division of Neurosurgery has 28 full time faculty members and 35 residents training within four major teaching hospitals. The Division performs over 8,000 operative cases annually and is the largest training program for Neurosurgery in North America.

The successful candidate should ideally possess prior leadership skills in hospital-based, University, or organized neurosurgery programs, and should have an established record of scholarly achievement, and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate, or Full Professor. The preferred hospital site for the Chair’s clinical activities is to be negotiated with the successful candidate, should she/he be an external candidate. Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Evidence of excellence in teaching, research, and administration is required.

Salary will be between the range of $600 – 800K, as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience. This estimate is based on fee for service billings, hospital- and University-based support
