The professorship is intended to foster the application and further development of optical microscopy methods at the interface between medicine and biosciences. We are looking for an internationally recognized scientist who uses high-resolution optical microscopy methods in cells and tissues to elucidate the cellular organization, function and interaction and their pathological changes.
We are looking for personalities with an excellent research track record according to their career level. Ideally, the applicant’s research topic relates to one of the current scientific focal points and consortia in Würzburg, such as the Collaborative Research Centers (CRC) 240 Platelets or 225 Biofab (see also https://www.med.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/research/) and graduate schools 2243 Ubiquitylation or 2157 3D Infect, as well as future translational imaging initiatives. Funds for consumables, investments and positions are made available on the basis of a research plan.
Prerequisites for employment are a relevant university degree followed by a doctorate and outstanding academic achievements as well as pedagogical aptitude. A habilitation can be replaced by equivalent scientific achievements, which can also be accomplished outside academia.
The university aims to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore particularly encourages female scientists to apply.
