Tenure Track Professorship for Women for Data Science in Geotechnical and Underground Engineering

We have an immediate opening for this fully funded position (40 hours per week) available at the Institute of Rock Mechanics and Tunnelling at Graz University of Technology. Upon agreement on a qualification agreement the candidate will be appointed as assistant professor. After fulfillment of the qualification agreement the candidate will be appointed as associated professor (permanent position).

The topics of digitalisation and building information modelling have been chosen as research focal points for underground space technology and rock mechanics.

Required academic qualifications:

PhD (or equivalent degree) in the field of Civil Engineering, Computer Science or related field with a special focus on Geotechnics / Tunnelling with in-depth knowledge of Data Science / Artificial Intelligence.

The successful candidate should also possess the following qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of scientific working
  • Independent data analysis and design/implementation of algorithms
  • Experience in project management incl. preparation of research proposals
  • Experience in the handling of research projects
  • Interdisciplinary work capability
  • Leadership
  • Experience in teaching and scientific outreach
  • Ability to work in a team and problem-solving competence
  • Excellent programming skills
  • Excellent knowledge of English

The position will be paid according to category B1 of the collective agreement for employees for Austrian universities, stipulating a gross salary of € 4.309,30 (14 x per year) and passes over to category A2 once appointed as associate professor.
