Researcher in software engineering for machine learning

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) has opened one full time (100%) position for a Researcher in software engineering for machine learning at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) located in the USI-SUPSI Campus in Lugano, within the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA). Contract start March1st 2024, or date to be agreed upon.

Tasks

Support in the development and implementation of applied and research projects.
Implementation of state-of-the-art machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms.
Data analysis and reporting using data science techniques and methods.
Setup and management of distributed computational environments.

Requirements

Essential

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, computer science, or similar.
In-depth knowledge of programming and scripting languages, such as Python, Java, C++, and Bash.
In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies and distributed computing.
Knowledge of data science and machine learning methods.
Knowledge of web service, and micro-services architectures.
Good relational skills and ability to work both autonomously and in groups.
Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
Good knowledge of spoken and written English, and Italian.

Preferred

Experience with modern NLP methods.
Knowledge of DevOps and MLOps methodologies.
Knowledge of a second national language.
In-depth knowledge of machine learning libraries, such as Numpy, Pandas, Apache Spark, PyTorch.
