McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management invites applications for Open Rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full) positions in the Information Systems Area, pending budget approval. The start date for the position is August 1st, 2024. Candidates must have (or be near completion) of a Ph.D. in Information Systems. Applicants demonstrating outstanding potential who are doctoral students and plan to have completed the requirements for their Ph.D. by December 2024 will also be considered. We have a particular interest in candidates whose research profiles align with one of four subjects - EDI, sustainability, entrepreneurship/innovation, and AI/analytics. Applicants in other sub-disciplines will also be considered.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to advance a cutting-edge, compelling, and impactful research agenda. The ideal candidate will have evidence of effective teaching, an experience-appropriate record of research publications in high quality, peer-reviewed journals, and clear promise of conducting innovative and important research publishable in the top journals in information systems such as those listed on the Desautels 22. Successful candidates are also expected to work actively with doctoral students, to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs, and contribute to the administration of the Area and Faculty. Our emerging teaching needs include, but are not limited to business analytics, core IS course, project management, as well as digital innovation, for both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Teaching duties include engagement in both of our undergraduate and graduate programs.

The Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge seeks to fill a full-time Tenure Track position in Counselling Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment carries the following key expectations:

  • Engage in scholarly or creative work.
  • Contribute to the graduate program, including teaching graduate courses and supervising graduate student research.
  • Engage in service work, across the campus and within the community (local to international).

Qualifications include a doctorate in Counselling, School, or Clinical Psychology. Applicants must be eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

McMaster University’s Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for a teaching-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work, located on the main university campus, to begin on July 1, 2024.

The School of Social Work offers a generalist BSW program, an MSW program (with streams in Critical Analysis (CA), and Critical Leadership in Social Services and Communities (CL)), and a Ph.D. program in social work and social justice.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in the BSW and MSW CL programs and will have additional responsibilities associated with supporting the Field Education Program. In more general terms, we are seeking candidates whose work will expand the School’s commitment to understanding and challenging various forms and dynamics of inequity in a changing social world, and take leadership within the School in strengthening critical and justice-focused field education curriculum and pedagogy in collaboration with the field team. Specifically, we are seeking candidates with social work practice and teaching expertise with racialized groups and communities.

Eligible candidates will have: an MSW degree and substantial experience in social work practice; a proven teaching record in social work practice courses; a demonstrated capacity to support students’ integration of theory and practice; and experience in field instruction. A PhD or PhD near completion in a related discipline is an asset. The School is prioritizing self-identified membership and lived experience of individuals from racialized communities for this position.

Faculty within the Department demonstrate strong externally-funded research programs and have multidisciplinary fields of study that focus on both applied and blue skies research.

Job Information and Responsibilities

As Assistant Professor, the successful applicant will:

  • Create excellent and inclusive student learning experiences through development and delivery of undergraduate courses, primarily in the areas of Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology. Applications are being sought for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in Asian Refugee Literatures and Cultures, to be housed in the Department of World Languages and Literatures with 50% dedicated workload in the Global Asia Program starting July 15, 2024.

Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a strong record of research in the literary, cinematic, and other cultural production of refugee subjects within and/or from Asia (defined broadly), with preference given to candidates with expertise in southeast, southwest, or south Asian refugee studies. They will have teaching interests and demonstrated experiences that are inclusive, interdisciplinary, and cross-border in approach; and work with two languages in addition to English. Ideally, they will also possess deep ties to one or more communities formed out of the experience of displacement.

The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Comparative Literature, Asian Studies, Middle East Studies, American Studies, or a closely related field by the employment start date. However, PhD candidates with solid indication of imminent completion may be hired at the rank of Instructor and will be promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor upon completion of the PhD. This is a junior faculty position. Only those eligible to be appointed or promoted to the rank will be considered.

Duties The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the University’s research excellence through a rigorous and collaborative research program. The candidate will be expected to teach courses in both the undergraduate and graduate program in areas such as refugee studies and Global Asian literary and cultural studies. Finally, it is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to the Department, Faculty, University and the academic community through service.

The Department of World Languages and Literatures offers a rigorous and innovative undergraduate program offering a Major, Minor, and Honours degree in the cross-cultural study of World Literature. The Global Asia Program is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that brings together the study of Asian and Asian diasporic people, places, cultures, and societies. The normal teaching load for this position is four undergraduate courses per year, split between both units, taught in two of three terms with the third for research.

The Department of Paediatrics, Children’s Hospital, London Health Science Centre, and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University is seeking a fully certified Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ID) Specialist to join the Division of Paediatric Infectious Diseases. Candidates with experience in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) are preferred.

The ID program at Children’s Hospital has a comprehensive array of services encompassing the full spectrum of paediatric infectious diseases, infection control, and a clinical research program. The Department of Paediatrics provides comprehensive acute care, ambulatory and in-patient services for children to a population of 2 million in southwestern Ontario. Children with a full range of care issues are managed in our Paediatric Emergency Department, Paediatric Critical Care Unit, Neonatology Unit and in-patient Clinical Teaching Units. The Department has a number of research initiatives for children ranging in age from pre-term neonates to adolescents. The department is very active in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education; and has a Royal College accredited program in Paediatrics as well as a number of fellowship programs.

The Department of Paediatrics in London has over 100 faculty members, 40 trainees, and provides a full array of Paediatric sub-specialty services. The Children’s Hospital has a Quality and Safety Committee and has formed partnerships within various international quality improvement initiatives. The department has 3 basic scientists as core members and numerous opportunities exist for clinical, epidemiological, translational, and basic science research.

London has a metropolitan census of 530,000 people with the amenities of a big city but friendliness of a small town. London is located in the heart of the Great Lakes region, 2 hours from both Toronto and Detroit. L'Agence japonaise pour la science et la technologie (JST), en collaboration avec l'Agence japonaise de collaboration internationale (JICA), a le plaisir d'annoncer un appel à propositions pour un partenariat de recherche scientifique et technologique pour le développement durable (SATREPS).

Veuillez noter que les informations suivantes sur la candidature au SATREPS sont destinées aux chercheurs appartenant à des instituts de recherche/universités japonaises au Japon. Les chercheurs d’autres pays doivent consulter leur agence gouvernementale nationale responsable de la coopération technique en matière d’APD, l’ambassade du Japon ou les bureaux de la JICA dans leur pays de résidence.

1. SATREPS FY2024 - Appel à propositions de recherche -À propos du processus de sélection

Période de candidature pour les propositions de recherche : Du 22 août 2023 (mardi) au 23 octobre 2023 (lundi) à midi (heure du Japon).

*La période de candidature a été avancée de deux semaines.

  • Domaines et domaines de recherche : Environnement et énergie / Bioressources / Prévention et atténuation des catastrophes
  • Période de recherche : 3 à 5 ans
  • Financement JST/JICA : env. 100 millions de yens par projet et par an 【Répartition du financement】 JST (dépenses de recherche contractuelle, y compris les coûts indirects) : env. 35 millions de yens par an (max. 175 millions de yens sur 5 ans) JICA (dépenses du projet APD dans le cadre de la coopération technique) : env. 60 millions de yens par an (Max. 300 millions de yens sur 5 ans)

  • Cet appel à propositions de recherche concerne les propositions qui seront mises en œuvre dans le cadre du budget du gouvernement pour l'exercice 2024, mais soumises et sélectionnées avant la finalisation du budget. De plus, le programme SATREPS est lié au programme d'aide publique au développement (APD) et nécessite du temps de coordination avec les institutions du pays homologue. Pour ces raisons, afin de démarrer les projets de recherche le plus rapidement possible, le processus doit démarrer avant que le budget ne soit approuvé. En conséquence, lorsque le budget sera finalement approuvé, les détails et les montants pourraient changer, ce qui pourrait potentiellement affecter les domaines de recherche, les dépenses de recherche sous contrat et le nombre de projets sélectionnés. Des documents supplémentaires peuvent également être demandés après l’approbation du budget.

1. FY2024 SATREPS - Invitation for Research Proposals -About Selection Process

Application Period for Research Proposals: From August 22nd, 2023 (Tues) to October 23rd, 2023 (Mon) at 12:00 noon (Japan Time).

*The application period has been moved forward by two weeks.

  • Research Fields and Areas: Environment and Energy / Bioresources / Disaster Prevention and Mitigation

Up to FY2015, the SATREPS Invitation for Research Proposals included the Infectious Diseases Control field. From FY2016, projects in this field are handled by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED). Please visitAMED website (Japanese)for details regarding the invitation for research proposals in the Infectious Diseases Control field. The above information refers to last year’s application process, and may change in future.

The SATREPS program is linked with Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects. The research institute in the partner country must submit an official ODA request to Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) via the partner country’s ministry or agency responsible for ODA and the local Japanese embassy. Receipt of ODA requests is due to start from Late June, 2023. The submission deadline is earlier than the Japanese application deadline, and this year it is on Friday, October 13, 2023.The partner country’s ministry or agency will require some time for administrative procedures, but the ODA request must reach the MOFA by the deadline irrespective of circumstances in the partner country. The internal deadline used by the partner country’s ministry or agency will vary in different countries, but is normally earlier than October 13. Please ask the researchers in the partner country to check at an early stage with the partner country's ministry or agency what application procedures* are required in the partner country and how much time this will take. If the partner country’s government does not submit an ODA request, the research proposal will be considered incomplete and will not be selected.

※Generally, the counterpart research institute prepares the official request for ODA technical cooperation, and then, after receiving approval from relevant ministries and agencies, submits the request to the local Japanese embassy via the local ministry or agency responsible for ODA. The embassy then submits the request to MOFA.

  • This invitation for research proposals is for proposals that will be implemented under the government's FY2024 budget, but submitted and selected before the budget is finalized. Moreover, the SATREPS program is linked with the official development assistance (ODA) program, and requires time for coordination with institutions in the counterpart country. For these reasons, in order to start the research projects as soon as possible, the process needs to start before the budget is approved. In consequence, when the budget is finally approved, details and amounts may change, which could potentially affect the fields of research, contract research expenses, and number of projects selected. Additional documentation may also be requested following budget approval.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships in experimental cancer biology, CRISPR, and functional genetics/epigenetics starting immediately. Using state-of-the-art gene-editing and functional genomics/proteomics techniques, we seek to identify genetic and epigenetic biomarkers for human cancer precision medicine, synthetic lethal and resistance mechanisms underlying disease development and signal transduction at the systems level. The postdoctoral research will be performed in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment with world-class experts and advanced technologies and facilities, which provide unique and ideal career development opportunities for postdocs. Successful candidates will be supervised by Dr. Nidhi Sahni, a faculty member and recognized leader in cancer genetics and systems biology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Sahni has received numerous prestigious awards and strong funding support, including AACR NextGen Star, Sloan Scholar Award, CPRIT Scholar Award, NIH Outstanding Investigator Award (MIRA), Sabin Fellow, DoD grant, Pinnacle Research Award, Rising STARs Award, among others. Requirements:

Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics/epigenetics, immunology, or relevant fields. We are interested in passionate and self-motivated candidates who ask fundamentally important questions and are bold in taking innovative approaches. Candidates should have previous expertise with tissue culture. Experience with high-throughput biology, CRISPR screens and next-generation sequencing is a plus.

Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital are recruiting multiple accomplished physician-scientists to develop their own independent research laboratories as tenure-track or tenured faculty members focused on research. Appointments may be in any Baylor College of Medicine department(s) associated with Texas Children’s Hospital (e.g., Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, OB/Gyn, Pathology, Pediatrics, Radiology, and Surgery, among others).

Successful candidates will receive generous startup packages to establish or move their laboratories and competitive salaries and fringe benefits.

Eligibility

The ideal candidate is a physician-scientist (MD/PhD, MD) whose research relates to children’s and/or women’s health. S/he should demonstrate evidence of commitment to scholarly activity and proof of outstanding scientific accomplishments. The physician-scientist candidate should be Board-qualified or Board-eligible in a clinical specialty relevant to the candidate’s research and relevant to children’s and/or women’s health. The candidate should be on a path to become a future leader in her or his field.

Candidates must be US citizens or non-citizen nationals, or must have been lawfully-admitted for permanent residence and possess verification of legal admission as a permanent US resident at the time of acceptance. Physician-scientist candidates should be eligible for licensure in Texas. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible to apply.

Position Details

Tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate or full professor appointments at Baylor College of Medicine commensurate with training and experience.

Baylor College of Medicine appointments will be in departments associated with Texas Children’s Hospital and/or the Pavilion for Women. This includes, but is not limited to, the departments of Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, OB/Gyn, Pathology, Pediatrics, Radiology, Surgery, and others. Joint appointments with basic science departments will also be possible, as appropriate to each individual’s research.

Successful physician-scientist candidates will typically devote a minimum of 75-80% protected effort to research activities and a maximum of 20-25% effort towards patient care responsibilities. For certain surgical subspecialties, this percentage may vary.
