Overview |
The Teaching Excellence Network (TEN), an NSF-funded program across Rutgers’ School of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, and the Learning Centers, invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Researcher starting as early as February 1, 2024. The position has the possibility of extending for up to an additional 6 months depending upon successful review after the first year and the availability of funding. This position reports to the project’s Principal Investigator, Dr. Mary Emenike. The responsibilities of this position will include ~70% research and ~30% administration/project management. Much of the work of the grant is conducted in virtual spaces and, as such, the successful applicant should have strong organization and written communication skills, be able to work independently, and be proficient with email, Zoom, and collaborative files storage systems (e.g., OneDrive, Box, GoogleDrive). Research (~70%): The person hired for this position will be expected to support and collaborate with the grant team (PI and four co-PIs) to conduct research on faculty development within the framework and existing IRB protocol related to the knowledge generation component of the grant project. This position includes analyzing qualitative and quantitative data that has already been collected during the first two years of the grant. The postdoc position will support the collection of qualitative data through individual interviews, observations of programmatic activities, and submission of documents by research participants. The person hired for this position will be expected to analyze qualitative data independently and as part of the collaborative team. Experience with one or more qualitative data management software is preferred. This position will also support a quantitative component of the research project to develop and validate a survey instrument on motivation and agency. Experience with one or more statistical data analysis software program is preferred. The person hired for this position will have the opportunity to contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for submission to academic conferences and journals. Project Management (~30%): The person hired for this position will be expected to attend monthly, virtual, TEN leadership grant team meetings, coordinate with the grant team to manage the programmatic activities of the grant (likely includes additional virtual meetings), support the grant team with advertising, recruiting, and maintaining programmatic records, update the website, communicate with grant participants, and support the preparation of annual reports. This position will support various logistical aspects of the Summer Institute, and the person hired into this position will have the opportunity to mentor a pair of faculty participants during the Institute. |
