RESEARCH ASSISTANT – Stem cell biology, developmental leukemia and immunotherapy

The Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute (IJC) is a nonprofit research institute based in Badalona and dedicated to advancing our understanding about leukemia and related disorders, in partnership with the University of Barcelona and Autonomous University of Barcelona. The IJC has laboratories in three clinical campuses: i) Clinic Hospital, ii) Sant Pau Hospital and iii) ICO-GTIP. The IJC serves as a collaborative hub for basic investigators and physicians to work together on fundamental biological and clinical aspects of leukemia. IJC Campus ICO-GTIP (Badalona) is looking for a Research Assistant for the “Stem cell biology, developmental leukemia and immunotherapy” laboratory to organize and coordinate daily lab activities but also to technically support postdocs/PhD students.

This position will be funded by the INFANTLEUKEMIA project. This project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program (grant agreement No646903).

Requirements

  • Bachelor University degree in Experimental Sciences.
  • University Master completed.
  • Previous experience in biomedical laboratories.
  • Experience in basic computer tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Good command of English.
  • Pro-active, dynamic, responsible and very organized person.
  • Eager to learn and attitude to work independently.
  • Adaptability to the user demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with other team members.
  • Animal experimentation certificate.

Main Responsibilities

  • Experimental design and protocol optimization.
  • Handling primary human blood samples from healthy donors and leukemia patients.
  • Magnetic and FACS sorting.
  • Lentiviral production.
  • Animal experimentation: irradiation, transplants, tissue extraction, animal welfare follow-up.
  • Cellular cytotoxicity, immunology and functional assays.
