The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is seeking a Macrophage Biologist for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful applicant will focus on establishing an independent, externally funded research program. We are interested in individuals with experience in studying the biochemistry and cell biology of phagosomes and lysosomes. This position offers a range of unique research opportunities through collaboration with the Cumming School of Medicine, and research institutes such as the Snyder Institute, and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute.

The successful applicant will be expected to spend the majority of their time devoted to research activities and will be expected to teach at the undergraduate (DVM) and graduate levels.

The candidate will be an excellent emerging researcher who has demonstrated research creativity and innovation, and the potential to achieve international recognition within the next five to ten years. Qualifications include a Ph.D. with a strong track record of macrophage research.

The successful candidate at the Assistant Professor rank must demonstrate evidence of a track record of publications in high-quality journals, securing external research funding, and effectiveness in teaching.

UCVM has approximately 70 faculty members, 130 staff, 125 DVM students, 110 graduate students, 25 post-doctoral fellows, and 15 advanced clinical trainees. UCVM’s DVM program provides a comprehensive general veterinary education to approximately 30-32 students per year. The program is an integrated core-elective program, with enhanced educational opportunities in defined areas that combine discipline-based courses with extensive on-campus and off-campus experiential learning. UCVM is a research-intensive faculty with expanding research, graduate education, and advanced clinical trainee programs.
