The AUF is launching the 5th edition of the El Fassi Prize. This prize, awarded every four years, crowns the work of a prominent figure in the Francophonie networks whose action has had a wide influence through the quality of his expertise and the innovative nature of his action on an international scale. The winner of the El Fassi Prize will receive an endowment of 15,000 euros which will be given to him or her on the occasion of the celebration of the AUF General Assembly in Bucharest from September 21 to 24, 2021. The call for application is open until July 25, 2021.
Purpose of the Prize
During its 9th General Assembly in Marrakech (Morocco) in 1987, by creating this award, the AUF wished to pay tribute to Mohammed El Fassi, an emblematic figure of the university Francophonie who actively participated in the founding of the University Agency of la Francophonie (AUF).
Awarded every four years, this award honors the work of a prominent figure in the Francophonie networks whose action, in one or more of the following fields, has had a large influence through the quality of his expertise and the innovative nature of its action on an international scale:
- research
- training
- governance
- knowledge / skills transfer
- development and international cooperation.
Endowment
The winner of the El Fassi Prize will receive an endowment of 15,000 euros.
Submission of candidacies
Self-nomination is not allowed.
Only AUF member establishments or personalities sitting on AUF bodies can nominate candidates for the El Fassi Prize.
The candidatures submitted must attest, among other merits, to the greatest exemplarity, and to demonstrate a proven international dimension. It is up to the person who nominates an application to provide all the evidence necessary for the assessment of the file.
The nomination may be accompanied by documents which attest to its merits and provide the information necessary to support the nomination.
The nominations proposed must:
- be able to justify an activity for 25 years after the thesis,
- be, or have been, active in an AUF member establishment.
Selection jury
The process of evaluating the applications and selecting the winners is placed under the responsibility of a mixed jury made up of members of AUF authorities.
Selection criteria
The jury will classify the files, taking into consideration the international influence of the candidate with particular regard to the following criteria:
- the significant contribution made to significant development operations;
- the works (publications in peer-reviewed journals, communications in international conferences, etc.) or list of works constituting an original work;
- applied research with added value for economic and social development;
- supervision (management of laboratories and teams, supervision of theses, development of international collaborations, animation of learned societies and scientific associations, participation in reading committees, etc.);
- regional and international recognition (obtaining prizes or citations, international expertise, teaching assignments in foreign countries as visiting professor, etc.);
- cooperation with French-speaking networks and the popularization of its work within the framework of La Francophonie.
Constitution of the application file
- A written document clearly setting out the exceptional merits of the nominated candidacy and its proven international dimension, in accordance with the provisions of these Rules;
- The detailed CV of the nominated candidate
