Postdoctoral Associate, Biomedical Engineering

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Ph.D. or M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) in biochemistry, biology, neuroscience or closely related fields in hand by September 2020. Strong background in one or more of the following research fields: aging, Alzheimer’s disease and/or other dementia.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in one or more of these areas: 1) molecular and cellular studies of neurological system; 2) transgenic or wildtype animal models for neurological disease and behavioral tests; 3) aging and dementia related to Alzheimer’s.

Brief Description of Duties:
The lab is interested in interdisciplinary and translational research that leverages the engineering advances in biomaterials, nanotechnology, medical implants, and neuroscience for innovative and better clinical solutions to emerging problems in regenerative medicine, cardiovascular disease, orthopedics, aging and dementia. State-of-art facilities are available across the campus with a very collaborative environment at SBU. The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. In addition, demonstrated ingenuity, productivity, and independence as well as excellent communication and writing skills are desirable. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

• Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering.

• Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.

• Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

• Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

• Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
