YOUR TASKS

  • During three mornings/week, you will assist in the practice-based teaching at the department of Pathobiology, Pharmacology and Zoological Medicine, Division of Poultry, Exotic Companion, Wildlife and Laboratory Animals. You will give guidance to 2nd and 3rd Master students in Veterinary Medicine during necropsy practices on exotic companion animals (companion birds, small mammals, ectotherm animals), wildlife and poultry.
  • You will give advice to veterinarians related to necropsy findings.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a degree of Master in Veterinary Medicine. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching at the department.
  • You are interested in a teaching assignment in the field concerned.
  • Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended.
  • You have experience (preferably) or interest in pathology
  • You have experience (preferably) or interest in disease problems in exotic companion animals, wildlife and/or poultry.
  • You possess didactic and communication skills.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a one year appointment, which may be renewed indefinitely for one year at a time. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University.
  • Your appointment will start on 1 February 2022 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales.
