Computational Biologist – Cancer Centre

Telethon Kids Institute is a health and medical research institute committed to discovering new and effective ways to enhance children’s health and wellbeing. Within the Institute’s broad research capacity sits the Telethon Kids Cancer Centre. The Centre was established to bring together teams of researchers and clinicians to defeat childhood cancer.

Cancer causes more deaths in Australian children than any other disease and there have been very few treatment advances for decades. Furthermore, many current treatments do not cure the cancer and those children who survive are often left with detrimental life-long side effects. The Telethon Kids Cancer Centre aspires to discover and move new childhood cancer therapies to the clinic that are more effective and less toxic. As such, we are building and expanding our core team to develop and test new immunotherapies and personalised medicines. Vital to the success of this initiative is high quality bioinformatic analysis, and as such we are seeking an expert in the field to drive this aspect of our work.

Telethon Kids aim is to create a workplace where people are respected and encouraged to fulfil their potential. We embrace all employee differences and foster a culture that supports diversity and inclusion. In return, you will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package including salary packaging and the opportunity to be part of a long-standing organisation. We offer excellent training and development opportunities and generous staff benefits including flexible working conditions, paid parental leave, social activities and a health and wellbeing program.

We are looking to appoint someone full time for 2 years, with a likely extension to 3 years. The salary offered will be dependent on experience and will be between $85,000 to $105,000 plus super.
