South China University of Technology (SCUT) offers the International Scholarship for Excellence to outstanding students who will matriculate into degree programs as full-time students. Selected students will receive a full or partial exemption from tuition and registration fees for the normal duration of the degree. The level of benefits depends upon the applicant’s academic excellence in previous academic achievements.
1. Eligibility
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese national and be in good health.
(2) Education background and age limit:
- Applicants studying to earn a Bachelor’s degree must have high school diploma and be under the age of 30.
- Applicants studying to earn a Master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants studying to earn a Doctorate degree must have a Master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

- Important Dates
(1) Application Deadline: 30th April
(2) By the end of June, successful applicants will be shortlisted and published on the website: www.scut.edu.cn/sie/english
(3) In early July, the Office of International Student Recruitment will send the Admission Letter and Visa Application Form (JW202) to successful applicants.
4. Application Procedure
The applicants must first apply on the website: http://www.scut.edu.cn/apply, fill the application form online and upload the following documents:
(1) Passport copy (photo page);
(2) Highest diploma and transcripts;
(3) A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (postgraduate applicants only, no less than 500words);
(4) Two reference letters in Chinese or English from previous professors or associate professors (postgraduate applicants only);
(5) Foreigner “Physical Examination Form”, must be filled in English or Chinese.
5. Evaluation for Retention
Scholarship holders should attend the annual evaluation organized in each May. Those who are in good standing and have fulfilled the annual evaluation requirement can maintain the scholarship for the next academic year. Those who fail to reach the above requirements will be transferred to the status of self-funding students, but can attend the next evaluation to apply for the scholarship in the next academic year.
All documents need to be notarized and translated into English or Chinese before submission to the School of International Education. Applications for music are required to submit one cassette recording of the applicant’s own work; Applications for fine arts must submit six color photographs of personal works.
