Postdoctoral fellowship in bioinformatics available for analyzing organoid/gastruloid development – University of Oslo (UiO)

A three year postdoctoral research fellowship (SKO 1352) is available at the Hybrid Technology Hub – Centre for Organ-on-a-Chip Technology (HTH). The purpose of the position is to apply and develop bioinformatics tools for analyzing organoid/gastruloid development.

About the project:

The position is part of the UiO: Life Science funded convergence environment “Integrated technologies for tracking organoid morphogenesis” (ITOM). Embryonic stem cell (ESC) technology has allowed the development of organoids/gastruloids that show features of the native structures, but lack maturation and suffer from significant variations. The field therefore calls for high-content tracking tools and algorithms to guide organoid/gastruloid development. The project unites three different Centres of Excellence in the Oslo area: HTH-CoENjord-CoE and RITMO-CoE. As such, the candidate will be part of a large and closely interacting interdisciplinary team of basic scientists, developmental biologists, chemists, physicists and computational scientists.

About the Hybrid Technology Hub – CoE:

The Hybrid Technology Hub is a Centre of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway and is located at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, at the University of Oslo. The overall objective of the Hybrid Technology Hub is to develop “organ-on-a-chip” and organoid technology.

More about the position

The recruited postdoctoral fellow will apply bioinformatics to correlate sequencing data, advanced imaging technologies such as Raman confocal spectroscopy and DESI-MS produced by the interdisciplinary team, as well as design and apply bioinformatics tools to analyse and guide organoid/gastruloid development. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to write progress reports and high quality manuscripts for publication.

The candidate will be supervised by HTH Centre director Prof. Stefan Krauss. We expect that the candidate work closely with three other early career researchers recruited to the ITOM project, other researchers at HTH and take part in the collaboration with RITMO and NJORD Centre.
