- Summary
The Asilidae collection at MZ-USP is considered the largest and most comprehensive in Latin America. Over the last 20 years, a significant amount of material has been incorporated, but due to lack of study, it remains unidentified. Specific screenings of this material revealed the existence of great potential to implement taxonomic revisions, describe new species and point out new distribution records. It is expected to improve and enrich the MZ-USP collection in addition to increasing knowledge about Brazilian biodiversity with the description of new species.
We are looking for a doctoral researcher with experience in taxonomy and systematics of Diptera, preferably with a focus on Asiloidea taxa and who has relevant scientific publications in the area. FAPESP scholarship (2 years; value of R$ 9,047.40) with technical reserve (10% of the annual value of the scholarship), which can be used to fund items directly related to the project.
The position is open to researchers of any nationality. Candidates must be fluent in English, as all results will be written in this language, and have advanced knowledge in using tools for obtaining and editing high-resolution photos and illustrations.
Interested candidates must have a doctorate degree and send a CV (Lattes), present a letter of recommendation and a letter of intent with their interests and capabilities.
